What our customers say about their holidays
Sarah - Verified booking
We have had a lovely week in this absolutely stunning cottage.
We have found it to be ideal for what we needed. This cottage is not far from being the perfect holiday let. The own had toys games and books which was a bonus and a nice touch but just a few things let it down for us. On arrival there was only two towels out ( I eventually found more under the stairs) and there was only one toilet roll in each of the upstairs and downstairs toilets and only one hand soap provided in kitchen. As these are basics I would expect to have hand soap in all bathrooms and again a nice touch would be to have at least a spare toilet roll in each bathroom. Although it was not listed on the original listing as having an iron and ironing board, this is something we expected as people don't pack these things when traveling to a different country, we did however mention that this should be provided and we were pleased that the owners acted on this and had one delivered , even if it did arrive too late for us to use it. The ensuite bathroom light was out and we were disappointed that this had not been checked and replaced before arrival. These were all small things but things that are expected and would make the property better. When we arrived all the rubbish from the previous guests was left out the back still and I'm not sure how much cleaning had been done. The shelves in bathroom cabinets upstairs were dirty with toothpaste marks, the floors in the bathroom and the main living area had not been swept or hoovered as there were what appeared to be dog hairs all over. There was crumbs dust and bottle tops on the floor under the settee and empty ice bags in the freezer. Also a used dish sponge in the kitchen sink. The cleaning left alot to be desired and if we returned again I would be checking this. Lastly we were annoyed to find that on our first day the electricity was scheduled to go off and nobody had informed us and then on our last day owners had a delivery of a sofa and chair, which had been put in to the house when we returned from our day. This I know was know meant to arrive at this time but should have been postponed a few days as this is not professional at all. Great house but needs some attention given to it and better thought and planning of deliveries and disterbences.

Lovely property in a perfect location!
Located on the main route along the top coast we had easy access to all the places on our list to visit; Giantâs Causeway, Carrick a Rede, Mussenden Temple, Dunluce Castle, Ballycastle and Raithlin Island. There were also many other places we discovered down narrow, steep, hairpinned roads that dropped to small rugged coves or harbours. This whole area was more wild, rugged and wonderful than I had expected. The house is out in the countryside in a group of similar properties. Inside, the house was beautifully cared for and decorated and had everything we needed for our stay. It was comfortable, clean and spacious. All the extra bits we often take on holiday had been provided. The patio garden at the back was a sun trap for late afternoon evening relaxing, although it was right next to the main road and did get traffic noise. We had wonderful sunsets from the back bedroom window over the distant sea. The parking is arranged just in front of the house with other properties parking in a row facing their homes along the fence line. We enjoyed a trip to Bushmills distillery and the Bushmills Inn. We also ate at Grayâs just a couple of minutes drive down the road, which we really enjoyed. We arranged an Asda delivery on our arrival and popped into the Spar and Co-op in Bushmills when passing for extras. One day we headed to Belfast to the Titanic exhibition then on to The Gobbins Cliff Walk, both of which were excellent. There are many lovely looking beaches all along the coast Benone, Downhill, White Rocks, White Park Bay as well as Ballycastle. I imagine during the summer months these would be very popular. We chose to travel from Cairnryan to Larne with a two hour crossing time, which worked very well for us. I would happily return to Stillwaters tomorrow and do it all again!

This is a lovely modern property in a rural location, but only a short drive from Ballycastle.
I would absolutely recommend this property although despite previous reviews which highlighted some problems around the maintenance and facilities within the property, it seems the owners continue to bury their heads in the sand. On arrival, bins were again overflowing and there is still no information regarding collections. A nearby farmer advised us collections were on a Tuesday and we brought rubbish bins down to be cleared (a walk about 300m down a steepish hill) - which I feel is something management should really take care of. The windows, which have such stunning views through them, continue to be in need of a clean both inside and out. âSingleâ could be used to describe our other amenities- a single tea towel, a single dishwasher tablet and a single toilet roll across 3 bathrooms. The travel cot we requested was not there, but, in fairness to the owner, he did get in touch and organise for one once weâd made the necessary calls. The welcome pack has been somewhat improved with the addition of some tea/coffee packs. There is a Nespresso machine fyi. A proper welcome pack, with some fresh local produce to get guests thought the first day/following morning would go a long way to providing a good welcome, with maybe a few more toilet rolls and some bathmats thrown in.

Although this is a lovely cottage it seems that the owner does not wish to listen to feedback from previous guests.
Despite, the owner assuring me, before arrival, that the previous guests rubbish would not be left and that recycling instructions were provided. This is not the case. On arrival rubbish left in external bins and no instructions on how to recycle. The ensuite light was broken on arrival. Again, this is noted in a previous review in February of this year. I advised Sykes of this on the 11th June. I had to ask Sykes again for help on 12 June. However, the owner did not get in touch with me until late evening on 15 June. I feel this is very poor communication by the owner and shows a lack of concern for guest experience. Sykes have been contacting owner since 19 June to ask for compensation for us as we had no ensuite light for 6 days. However, so far, owner has not responded. Also, windows are extremely dirty both inside and outside. Finally, gardner arrived, without us being informed, during our stay. I have a severe grass allergy so had to ask them to return whilst I was out of cottage. This could have been avoided if the owner had told us gardner was coming and I would have made sure I was out of the cottage.

The admiral is a lovely house and the location is good to see the surrounding area.
The cleanliness could be better and the kitchen utensils, pots and pans are a mish mash of oddments thrown together. No sharp knifes, tin opener doesn't work all glasses and dishes are oddments. Unfortunately the kitchen sink was blocked on arrival, we reported it to the owner and he responded quickly and fixed it within twenty four hours. The shower heads need descaling they only spray from half the head. No clean linen for beds were provided even though we were there for two weeks. Only two tea towels provided so struggled to dry pots, the dishwasher was out of use and the dustbins were full on arrival. Has I said earlier the Admiral is a lovely house but unfortunately it appeared poorly equipped and maintained. On a brighter note the people of coleraine were lovely and made us very welcome has did everyone we met on our holiday to Northern Ireland.
