What our customers say about their holidays

Our stay at Godscroft Hall was a truly delightful experience.
Nestled in the peaceful countryside, the hall is full of character and history, offering a perfect blend of traditional charm and modern comfort. The rooms are spacious and well-kept, with beautiful period features that add to the overall atmosphere. The beds are made up with very comfortable bedding and so comfortable. One of the highlights of Godscroft Hall is its stunning surroundings. The grounds are picturesque, providing a serene environment thatâs ideal for relaxation. Whether youâre taking a peaceful stroll or enjoying the scenic views, itâs a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Our host, Liz, was absolutely wonderful. She was warm, welcoming, and always attentive, ensuring that every need was met with genuine care. Her local knowledge and personal touch made our stay even more enjoyable, and her hospitality added a special warmth to the experience. Another plus is the convenient location of Godscroft Hall. Itâs easy to get to Liverpool, with just a short drive away, and in about an hour you can be at the stunning Welsh coast. Frodsham had a delightful Thursday market and plenty of local pubs serving delicious fayre. Whether you're looking for a countryside retreat or planning day trips to nearby cities and coastal spots, this location is ideal. I would highly recommend Godscroft Hall to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable countryside getaway. With its beautiful setting, proximity to key locations, and Lizâs exceptional hosting, itâs the perfect retreat for families, couples, or anyone wanting to unwind in a beautiful and tranquil environment. We will be back.

The location is ideal for a 30 minute walk into Chester , a 10 minute drive to Chester zoo, a Morrisons about 5 minutes drive.
Lady who I spoke to was really nice and helpful and key arrangements all good. Parking on site pet and smoke free reason we booked this property. Weâve used Skyeâs holiday cottages loads of time.BUT have to say although âsurface clean âthe house generally inside and out needs a thorough good clean. Iâm certainly not knocking the cleaner who must go in inbetween guests probably on a time scale. How often is it deep cleaned. I have several photos that Iâm happy to share with Sykes. You are promoting these properties and I do not feel this is up to scratch. Yes it is very dated thatâs not the issue ,but cobwebs from kitchen light which is above dining table. The cobwebbed dirty door frame as you enter into a hallway with just a light bulb not even a shade on it was NOT a nice welcome. When was this property shown any TLC . Not expecting gleaming white eaves when you open bedroom windows BUT that amount of grime and cobwebs is years worth. The basic sinks fridge etc were clean I am just explaining how the aesthetics of the property are. Assume it was a property purchased to be used as a holiday let . Appears bare minimum has been done for eg. kitchen cupboard doors have been painted but not the plynths , inside the door . Like I say Iâm happy to email you my photos to show the points I am raising. You are more than welcome to publish my feedback. The complimentary milk in fridge and tea and coffee was a nice gesture Iâm not a clean fanatic but seriously expect better than this.

On arrival at the property after a long journey we contacted the owner to advise 'all okay' after quick inspection.
However, the utility door leading to the garden was unlocked. The microwave was rusty. The toaster was dirty / rusty / burnt / plastic case melted. The kitchen sink tap was extremely loose. There was insufficient crockery and glassware especially if you wanted to make use of the dishwasher. The toilet in the family bathroom did not flush and the owner was aware of this as a laminated notice on the cistern gave operating instructions to 'pump flush button a couple of times to flush' which only produced a splash of water, not a flush. All taps were dirty at base and thick with limescale on taps themselves. Light fittings in both bathrooms were covered in thick dust. The grey hand towels from Morrisons smelt of machine oil as they had not been washed and were clearly brand new as a card label was left by a towel which stated 'wash before first use'. When adhering to instructions to strip bedding, the pillows were found to have no pillow protectors which would have prevented the brown stains on some of them. To say we were disappointed is an understatement as we thought we had found the ideal property to visit family in the area on a regular basis. This property is clearly unloved and uncared for which is a great shame.

Had a 7 night stay at Godscroft Hall with my wife and two children.
The property is as described and pictured and worthy of its high rating and good reviews. The house was really clean and clearly maintained to a high standard - many such places can be a little tired and neglected when used as holiday lets etc, but it was hard to find any problems or issues here. The room sizes are very generous and the garden a really good size and particularly good for the kids to play out in. You can see both the train line and motorway but living near a city centre I can't say the noise ever bothered any of us, and my son is a bit of a train spotter so they were always a welcome sight. It's down a narrow country lane on the edge of town so driving is fairly essential, but parking right by the house was always straight forward. My only very minor quibble was the wi-fi which seemed to be a little patchy and with a family who spend much time online there was the occasional grumble when the signal was lost. However, it was still fairly usable so not a big issue for me. Overall, a really unique property, way bigger than your typical 3 bedroom holiday let, with a great garden area and very much recommended.

91 Main Street was in a great location for visiting our family.
We visited from Australia and stayed for two weeks and enjoyed our time there. The train station is a good 5 minute walk away and you can head out for a day to Wales, Liverpool, Manchester or Chester. There are some lovey pubs in Frodsham, the Bears Paw is a few doors away, and the Ring O Bells is good walk up the hill. There are restaurants too. Supermarkets (Morrisons and Sainsbury's) are nearby for any groceries/drinks you may require. Our bed was comfortable, having two bathrooms with plenty of hot water and two TVs was also nice to have on a cold winter's eve. The house was heated throughout, and it was always lovely to walk into after a day out in the cold. My parents loved visiting us there. We celebrated my Mum's 85th birthday and I was able to cook her a delicious meal as everything we needed was in the well stocked kitchen. We are already hoping to stay again in 2024.
