Large Cottages in Bournemouth

Enjoy a group trip with large holiday homes in Bournemouth

As one of the most popular seaside towns in the UK, Bournemouth has lots to offer visitors, including great tourist attractions, excellent beaches, and a vibrant nightlife.

If you're planning a group holiday, whether a special occasion, a get-together with your pals, or a birthday celebration, we have a wide range of large cottages in Bournemouth to suit the occasion.

With villas overlooking the sea, holiday homes in the centre of town, and stunning large houses away from the hustle and bustle, choose the perfect holiday home for your trip and let the fun begin!

Why choose Bournemouth for your holiday?

The pretty coastal town of Bournemouth boasts miles of sandy beaches to explore, plenty of shops to discover, and lots of top-notch bars, restaurants and cafes to indulge in.

There are seven miles of sandy beaches spanning Bournemouth's coast, with over 1,400 pretty, colourful beach hut sites. The beaches have won numerous awards for their water quality and sustainability, so you can enjoy some of the cleanest beach days in the UK. To get an inspiring view of the coast, catch a scenic land train or hop on a cliff lift.

Like many seaside towns in the UK, Bournemouth has a gorgeous pier. This Victorian pier makes for a great day out thanks to its amusement arcade, places to eat and excellent views. Nearby village Boscombe has another pier that's worth a visit for its views, cafe and shop.

No trip to Bournemouth is complete without a visit to its world-class seafront. There's lots to do including family attractions, a historic house museum, pretty walks, outdoor activities and plenty of restaurants and bars.

Bournemouth has some excellent parks and gardens to explore. A short walk from the beach is the grade-II listed Victorian Gardens, home to many attractions including the art exhibition at Pine Walk, an aviary, the bandstand, an ornamental rockery and a mini golf course. The Central and Upper Gardens are also well worth a visit, offering a quiet haven with a water tower, tree trail walk and idyllic red bridges over the Bourne Stream.

If the sea is calling you, why not spend your days relaxing on soft, golden sand, or embrace your adventurous side and go surfing, paddle boarding, or jet skiing and discover the picturesque coastline?

Bournemouth also hosts year-round events, from music concerts and sporting events such as the Bournemouth Bay Run to the Bournemouth Air Festival and the epic Pier to Pier Challenge.

If you're feeling energetic, take a trip 3 miles down the road and discover Old Harry Rocks. These three chalk formations stand in the sea and mark the end of the Jurassic Coast; a stretch of the English Channel's coast known for its many fossils and natural features showing 185 million years of geological history. Grab your buckets and some beach shoes and see what you can find hidden in the sand and rock pools.

What our customers say about their holidays

The building is not well sealed.

Smoke from neighbours' fires made it into the property on almost every night of our stay. We ran an air purifier with a sensor that clearly monitored the pollutant ingress during these times. Who knows what it would have been like if we hadn't been running a purifier? I discovered one of the windows has a perished seal but that didn't seem to be the source of it. All relayed to the land-person who reacted like I was asking her for comments on the flavour profiles of mandarins from China vs. Japan. The property was not cleaned effectively before our arrival and it smacked of make-do: the air freshener sprayed excessively before our check-in the tell-tale. There was old food encrusted on place mats and the floors. An old toothbrush next to the nightstand. Pieces of food in the bedrooms. A smear of ketchup on the glass doors. Stains all over the kick-boards in the kitchen. The dishwasher still had water in it - not draining well obviously...we never tested it. Lamps were missing bulbs. Drawers were overflowing with out-dated tourism leaflets. The house feels like an old star being given a Vegas residency - you can slap as many gewgaws on it as you like but things don't quite look or feel as they used to. The plus sides: it had a highly effective heating system, the washing machine and fridge-freezer were good and the provision of crockery, pots and pans, cutlery, and other kitchen amenities were excellent: far better than many places you might stay. The decor is hideous. Cluttered. A caricature of a seaside home. It borders on the offensive. The furnishings are worn and stained. The towels are like drying yourself with a door mat.

We had a lovely stay at Cranleigh Close.

In the house the beds were really comfy, the shower was like a monsoon, x2 sofa's big enough for the four of us so we weren't squashed up in the evenings. Big fridge, dishwasher, conservatory/deck/garden were nice although we didn't use them much. For a family there's everything you need to make a 1 week stay easy, and you could set up home for a longer stay as well. The curtains were nice and heavy so we got a good nights sleep. The telly was also a decent size which was great - no squinting in the evening like some places! They might seem silly but to us, after a long day out with the kids, it's these small things that make for a relaxing, restful evening which is what we want on holiday. The location was good for going to Bournemouth, Poultons Park, and popping in to Christchurch for coffee. Not sure what the local high streets are like as we had dinner and drinks in as we have young kids, but a pretty good base if you want to travel to various spots in Dorset and Hampshire. This is an older house, so if you want to be somewhere that's newly renovated, go to a hotel. The owner has clearly put in lots of effort to make this a home, rather than just a house for many. Would happily stay again next time we head that way.

We absolutely loved our stay at West Ridge.

What an incredibly beautiful house and gardens, it was a real privilege to be in. The house has such a lovely energy, we really got the feeling that it has been loved and appreciated, which made it so easy to feel at home there, whilst appreciating the beauty and history all around you. There are so many toys available for children which was really appreciated, ours only ended up playing with a handful of them, but there are games for all ages which is great for rainy days. The bathroom upstairs is huge, super clean, modern and practical for kids, making bath time nicer than any holiday we've been on. The whole house was spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable with good quality white sheets. West Ridge is a short walk from the beach east of Boscombe, which is absolutely stunning and much less crowded than Bournemouth beach, and there are ice creams, toilets and water which is perfect for long days on the beach. It is also an easy drive to Christchurch and Mudeford Quay, and really close to Southbourne. We had an absolutely brilliant week at West Ridge, with many wonderful memories to cherish. We will definitely try to stay here again if we return to Bournemouth. Thank you for such a lovely stay.

The house and garden were fantastic and it's position close to the beach and the cliff top pathway is ideal.

There's a lot to do and Bournemouth has so much to offer and is very well looked after and we had a great week. Our only slight disappointment was the lack of thought that seemed to have gone into providing for holidaymakers. In many similar properties you are provided with a booklet of information about how to operate equipment etc - using the cooker was far from straightforward, details of local shops, supermarkets, facilities, restaurants, takeaways, places to visit, what to do etc. Also, some of the basic things, like salt and pepper for example, weren't provided and it was odd having many of the most accessible cupboards in the kitchen locked. The bin in the kitchen was woefully inadequate for such a large property. Having lots of very nice ornaments on show does help to enhance the general ambience of the property but if you have young children it can be a source of anxiety. Some warning of all the locked rooms and cupboards would also have been polite we feel. Rather than a holiday home, it felt a bit like a private house that we were intruding upon. With a little bit more thought it could easily have been a 5 star rating.

This is a good property with outstanding features.

The house is ideally located being just a short walk to Boscombe beach as well as an easy walk, or short drive, into both Boscombe and Bournemouth. There is good, easily accessible, off road parking. The rooms are spacious, with tasteful period furnishings and extremely comfortable beds. Each of the three bedrooms has good storage space, although the master bedroom would benefit from having bedside tables. There is just one bathroom available, however, this was not a problem for a party of five adults, particularly as there are wash-basins in two of the bedrooms. Having USB charging sockets on most of the power socket points is a real bonus. The quiet, well-maintained garden is outstanding to sit-in at any time of the day. All rooms were cleaned and maintained to a high standard. Whilst the kitchen is very well-equipped, this coupled with too many locked cupboards, resulted in there being very little free space to store food items. It's a property that we highly recommend and hope to return to in future.
