Château Crystal is a luxurious 19th-century château rental in a magnificent 105-acre estate located in the western part of the Loire Valley. It is surely one of the most spectacular château rentals in France, offering a 22-acre private recreational lake for boating or fishing, a tree-canopied island with an antique gazebo for weddings, alongside a private swimming pool, 9-hole golf course and tennis court.
Imagine gathering for meals on the lakeside terrace, atmospherically lit up in the evening, or enjoying long walks across palatial lawns and woodland within the vast grounds. All in one of the most idyllic private settings you'll ever see! Wine tasting, golf, horseback riding, cycling, hot air ballooning, river boat tours, museums, churches, restaurants, shopping and much more are all nearby.
The château has been extensively renovated and sumptuously decorated with beautiful antiques and rich fabrics. Although majestic with its dramatic, double carved-stone stairway in the entrance hall, and elaborate 16.5 foot ceilings throughout the main floor, the château is warm and welcoming. A lift serves all four floors providing easy access to the reception rooms, dining rooms, chapel and the gorgeous en-suite bedrooms available for guests.
Château Crystal can host up to 28 guests across its 14 bedrooms. Just a short walk across the gardens, there are two apartments in a separate building, simpler in style yet ideal for an additional 10 guests. This allows the whole estate to sleep a maximum of 38 guests, perfect for extended family holidays, a celebration with friends or a romantic Loire wedding.
Guests may choose to self-cater or make the most of the château’s delicious catering services including wine & hors d'oeuvres tastings, champagne brunches, hog roasts as well as fine French dining, served in the dining rooms, courtyard terrace or beside the lake.

Château Crystal enjoys an enviable location in the western Loire region of France, only 25km north of the historic city of Angers. The 19th century château is set within an exceptional estate with a 22-acre private lake, 9-hole golf course, tennis court and vast parkland for woodland and lakeside walks. Enjoy excellent carp fishing on the lake, make the most of the rowing boat, paddle board and kayak, or simply soak up the romance of the lake’s island with its antique gazebo and canopy tree. Al-fresco feasts can be served on the lakeside terrace, atmospherically lit up in the evening.
The nearest international airport is Nantes Atlantique Airport (98km) whilst the closest TGV train station is in Angers with arrivals from Paris (Paris Montparnasse to Angers is around 90 minutes by train). Transfers can be arranged but do note a car is essential to be able to reach local amenities and explore the region.
There are many picturesque villages nearby waiting to be discovered. Just 7km away, Grez-Neuville has been voted one of the prettiest in the Loire, loved for its historic charm and riverside setting, with lovely walks along the Mayenne River’s towpath. A little further afield, Sablé-sur-Sarthe (45km) is another regional gem – be sure to sample the village’s famous Sablé biscuits before you leave.
A wealth of outdoor activities awaits. Keen golfers can choose from three regional courses, including the highly regarded 18-hole Golf d'Angers (41km), known for its excellent clubhouse. Beyond the greens, guests can enjoy horse riding, hiking and cycling routes, fishing spots, hot-air balloon rides, museums, historic churches, birdwatching and river boat tours – all offering memorable ways to experience the area.
Wine tasting is another popular pursuit in this region, with the Loire Valley’s centuries-old vineyards offering a diverse range of styles. Chateau Crystal is a magnificent and completely exotic place. We were welcomed by William and Suzy, two charming people who were totally available for your every wish or need. We celebrated my husband's 50th birthday with more than 40 people, a wonderful weekend under the mist and the charm of the lake. Thank you for making this weekend unforgettable.

Chateau Crystal was the most incredible experience of our lives! During the decision process, we absolutely fell in love with the photographs of the Chateau and once we were able to speak with the owner, we were sold. William & Susy (owners) were a dream to work with and extremely accommodating. The were both so personable and welcomed us and our whole party with open arms. They made us feel as if we were home, even though we were so far away from home. We live in California so the planning process was a bit in depth as we only had short windows to speak due to timezone. William went above and beyond to ensure we would have the perfect stay and services. I put a lot of my trust in his expertise on various details and he absolutely executed everything perfectly! William was constantly running around on the days of our various events (welcome party, wedding ceremony, wedding dinner, wedding reception, day after wedding brunch) to ensure everything was running smoothly! Even if there was a problem, William solved it right away and made our lives so much easier. If you are looking for a wonderful venue and week long stay at a traditional French Chateau, please do yourself a favor and stay at Chateau Crystal. I hope we are able to return in the future!
