A lovely spacious 3-bedroom holiday home set in a quiet residential area of the lovely village of Fordham, which is situated in the middle of Ely, Cambridge, and Bury St Edmunds. It’s the ideal choice for couples, families and friends wishing to explore this fabulous part of East Anglia. Used as the owner’s family holiday home, they want other guests to enjoy it as much as they do. The large kitchen diner provides everything you need to prepare a lovely evening meal or hearty breakfast and has bi-folding doors to the garden. Please note that although the property welcomes dogs, the garden is not enclosed but surrounds the bungalow.
The spacious bedrooms are all on the ground floor as is the newly fitted walk-in shower room. It’s a great base to discover all the lovely towns and cities in this region including Ely with its stunning Cathedral only 20 minutes away where you can enjoy a day out taking in the beautiful scenes and browsing a verity of shops, restaurants, and pubs. Newmarket with its famous horse racing course is only 15 minutes away.
The University city of Cambridge is approximately 25 minutes’ drive where you can marvel at the beautiful buildings, go punting on the river or enjoy an afternoon tea at one of the many tea rooms, cafés, and restaurants. There are many local attractions to visit including the legendary Oliver Cromwell’s house, The National Horseracing Museum, Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds, Palace House Newmarket, Wicken Fen Nature Reserve, Imperial War Museum – Duxford and Thetford Forest. For a longer day out, visit the seaside at Hunstanton about an hour away, as is the city of Norwich.

Spacious bungalow with excellent shower room. Large well equipped kitchen. Couldn’t allow dog to roam free in garden as not fully fenced in. Public footpaths at back of house could have challenge privacy, although people never seemed to look in. Village amenities are excellent with everything you could need within 5 minute walk. Excellent recreation park within 10 minutes walk with fenced off field for dogs. Very enjoyable holiday. Easy access to Ely and Cambridge.

We have just enjoyed our second holiday in Cambridgeshire staying at Hedgeways. So much to do in this area, Newmarket for the races, Ely Cathedral City and Bury Saint Edmunds in particular. Fordham itself and the location of the bungalow within it is spot on. As the other reviewers have highlighted despite the bungalow being tucked away down a quiet cul de sac you can walk through the garden gate and reach a small supermarket or eateries including one of the best Indian restaurant/takeaway meals we've ever had! There is a nice park too within walking distance which has a fenced dog field. Also the gate from the bungalow leads you into a small wood with walks for dogs and adults alike. The garden isn't fully fenced but we didn't find this a problem. We felt our dog was most welcome by the owner providing bowls, blankets and towels for him! The bungalow is very spacious, the kitchen with the large table and views of the garden from the bifold door when the sun shone was lovely.
