Guests say

The Corner Barn in Cirencester is praised for its excellent location and comfortable furnishings. Guests appreciate the proximity to country walks and the town centre, as well as the tasteful decor and the inclusion of amenities like a washer/dryer. Some guests have noted areas for improvement, particularly in cleanliness and maintenance, but the property remains a popular choice for its charm and convenience.

Several reviews mention the need for improved cleanliness, including issues with dust, cobwebs, and a musty smell. The bathroom and kitchen cleanliness were specifically highlighted as areas needing attention.

The property's location is highly praised for being within walking distance to Cirencester and close to country walks, making it an ideal spot for exploring the area.

Guests find the furnishings comfortable and the beds cosy, although some mention the need for mattress toppers and the presence of musty smells. The property is described as quiet and relaxing.

The facilities are generally appreciated, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable sofas. However, guests have reported issues with heating, locks, and a lack of certain kitchen items, suggesting room for improvement in maintenance.

While some guests were delighted by the provision of milk and cakes upon arrival, there is not enough information across reviews to assess the consistency of such thoughtful gestures, and they are not guaranteed.

Having seen a poor review regarding cleaning and heating re the property I contacted the booking agent a week before arrival. Heating worked which was great. However, arrived to find that the accommodation had not been cleaned since the last clients 2 weeks previously despite the booking gent alerting the owner to the concerns re cleaning. Property clearly not cleaned other than obvious areas for quite some months as for example back of bedside cabinet in twin room thick with cobwebs and skirting boards black. Extension lead behind double bed black. Skirting boards throughout filthy. Rang the number given in the property for cleaning service, left message on ansaphone - no one ever replied. So contacted booking company. Was told a cleaner was on way, no one arrived. Made the beds with bedding found in cupboard and cleaned what I could myself but unable to vacuum as hoover so thick with dirt it was but useless. No hairdryer nor iron, and as noted by a previous guests no bowls for cereal. Also the TV kept doing odd things - turning itself off and on, cutting out mid programme. A real shame as the accommodation otherwise suited me perfectly. The owner needs to visit the property themselves.

It was our second visit to The Corner Barn, unfortunately not an enjoyable visit. The central heating wasn’t working, and looking at comments in the visitor book it hadn’t been working for at least 2 weeks. I contacted the owner, we were told to contact the management company. No response after phoning twice and messaging. There was a fan heater and oil heater in the barn but no heating in the bathroom which was freezing. The whole place needed a really good clean, the bathroom being the worst. Bedroom carpets looked like they haven’t been hoovered for a ling time. No cereal bowls in the kitchen, only 3 teaspoons and general lack of kitchen equipment. Whoever is managing the holiday let needs sacking.

Overall the cottage is lovely and in a great location. Country walks on the doorstep and only 10 minute walk into Cirencester. In some areas the cottage needs a little TLC. The bathroom could do with a really good clean around the skirting boards and shower area. We found the bedding in the kingsize bedroom smelt fusty, probably from not being completely dry when it’s been washed and the bed needs a mattress topper, it’s very bobbled on the top which you can feel through the sheet. It definitely wouldn’t put me off staying at the cottage and we are planning on booking again in the New Year.
