The Old Post Office is a charming and spacious cottage in the picturesque Cotswolds, appreciated for its well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and beautiful garden. Guests enjoyed the local amenities, including a village shop, cafe, and pub within walking distance. The property's character and location make it a desirable stay for those visiting the area.
Most guests found the property to be of a high standard, though there were mentions of the need for a more thorough cleaning, particularly regarding pet hair and outdoor maintenance. The majority of reviews, however, did not raise cleanliness as a major issue.
The location is highly praised for its beauty and convenience, with a local shop, cafe, and pub nearby. The village is described as stunning and ideal for walks, contributing to a very positive experience.
The property is generally found to be comfortable, with super comfy beds and pillows mentioned. However, some guests noted discomfort with the master bedroom bed and the single beds, as well as the seating in the lounge area.
The facilities are well-regarded, especially the kitchen, but there are several comments about maintenance issues such as plumbing noises, a loose toilet seat, and the need for better Wi-Fi coverage. The limited number of showers for the size of the property was also a concern.
Guests appreciated the starter pack of logs and food, which added a welcoming touch. However, there were issues with the provision of items such as a cot and high chair, and it should be noted that while such thoughtful gestures are mentioned, they may not be guaranteed for every stay.
The Old Post Office is a true Cotswolds’ gem, situated in one of the region’s most attractive villages. Originally, it won’t surprise you to read, it was the village post office, with living quarters set across the three floors. Today it has undergone a complete refurbishment and is now presented in a cool and contemporary style with attractive furnishings throughout, whilst retaining a wealth of character and charm. This leads through to large dining room, complete with log-burner, a perfect place to enjoy your latest culinary creation and while away the hours with family or friends. At the rear of the property, with views across the lovely, enclosed garden you will find the stunning farmhouse style kitchen, with it's lovely vaulted ceiling. You could also seek a bit of peace and quiet and curl up by yet another log-burner. The rooms are spacious and it easily accommodates eight people with the four bedrooms set across the two upper floors. On the first floor you will find 3 of the bedrooms (2 doubles and a twin bedroom) which share the recently refurbished family bathroom. The master bedroom, a stunning suite on the top floor for a lucky pair enjoys stunning views of the village and surrounding countryside. Outside is a good sized garden with a grassed area and terrace and ample seating. As you’d hope with an old post office, the property is right in the heart of the village, with an award winning local shop opposite, selling a wide selection of produce. There is also an excellent village pub, The New Inn, which is about 100 yards down the lane from your front door. The village is one of the Cotswolds’ prime locations, set within the Coln Valley, with endless walk and bike rides from your door. The garden is beautiful and we spent a lot of time sat outside. The location of the house is perfect. A little shop opposite for supplies and a 3 minute walk from a pub that does the most amazing burgers! Our stay was certainly 10/10 and I would recommend this house to anyone. We would love to come and stay again in the future. The only things I would add is it would be good to have some simple instructions for the oven (mainly what the signs mean for using the main part of the oven) and also how to work the TVâs. We only ever managed to get the front room TV working, none of the others. I know other guests mentioned this but the first floor bathroom only had a handheld shower and no blinds on the window so we all ended up using the shower upstairs which was a little annoying. Donât want to end on a sour note as we honestly had the best stay so thank you so much!!!

Comfortable beds and lovely bedrooms. Unfortunately all the chairs and sofas in the lounge were uncomfortable and the bathroom that is shared by three bedrooms is not great due to the hand held shower and no ability to stand in the bath due to no shower curtain or screen. Also no blind on the window which made using the bath/shower head very difficult when the garden next door was being used as the window overlooks their garden and they can see in. When we arrived there was a heavily dripping tap in the bathroom and worst of all, one of the party was electrocuted by the light switch in the downstairs toilet/utility room. Really great house that is really let down by the bathroom and lack of comfort in the lounge.

However, check-in isnât until 5pm and check-out is 10am prompt. The cleaners turned up as we were finishing packing up and told us they would have to evict us. We were there for a wedding and some of our party had gone to get cars from the venue (20 minutes away) we had small children and didnât really want to wait on the main road. They eventually agreed to us sitting in the garden. Other relatives were in houses further down the road with better check-in and check-out times.
