Guests say

The Downs Barn Lodge is a charming and spacious cottage set in beautiful grounds, offering a peaceful and comfortable base for exploring the Cotswolds. Guests consistently praise the lovely gardens, cosy wood burner, and proximity to a popular farm shop. The property is well-equipped and beds are frequently described as very comfortable. While some mention minor issues with heating, TV reception, and the welcome pack, the overall experience is highly positive, with many guests eager to return and recommending the cottage to others.

Cleanliness is frequently praised, with guests describing the cottage as spotless, well-kept, and comfortable. Only one review mentioned a bathroom sink issue, but this did not detract significantly from the overall impression.

The location is a standout feature, with guests loving the beautiful surroundings, tranquil gardens, and easy access to local attractions and the nearby farm shop. Minor road noise is occasionally mentioned but is not seen as a major drawback.

Guests consistently highlight the comfort of the beds, spacious rooms, and the cosy atmosphere, especially with the wood burner. Some mention the heating could be improved in colder months, but overall comfort remains a strong point.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen, good Wi-Fi, and ample space. Some guests noted minor maintenance issues (TV reception, heating, kitchen utensils), but these did not significantly impact their stay.

Some guests appreciated small touches such as a box of chocolates or prompt responses from the owners. However, several noted that the welcome pack was minimal and not guaranteed, and personal touches could be improved.

Beautiful cottage with a stunning garden. Great base from which to explore the Cotswolds.

This is a beautiful cottage surrounded by mature well kept gardens, and attractive landscape. Within walking distance of a perfect farm shop cafe with entertainment. Secure off road parking. Bring DVD as the tele hasn't got smart capability. The log burner burns hot and fast. We only needed it to dry clothing when it was a rainy day. Personally we could have done with a guard as we had to be very aware where our daughter was. Overall we loved our stay and felt comfortable in. A beautiful roll top bath which our daughter loved. Being an older property it lacked water pressure. So just be mindful when planning baths. The kitchen has dishwasher, microwave and oven and hob. So worked perfectly for what we needed. We will be back

we really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful spacious cottage ,with a gorgeous garden ,we walked to the farm shop a couple of times & visited cirensester & Bourton on the water, and visited a national trust, so found plenty to do ,the only small negative I have ,is I find it nice to have a welcome pack as we have always had that where we have stayed ,
