Guests say

Yew Tree Cottage is a spacious, well-equipped and cosy holiday home, ideal for families and dog owners seeking a peaceful retreat near Chesterfield and the Peak District. Guests consistently praise its cleanliness, comfortable beds, enclosed garden, and blend of traditional charm with modern amenities. The location is quiet yet convenient for local walks, pubs, and exploring the area. Thoughtful touches such as welcome packs are frequently mentioned. Some guests note a steep walk from the parking area, occasional maintenance issues, and water pressure concerns, but overall, the cottage offers a warm and enjoyable stay.

The majority of reviews highlight the cottage as very clean and tidy, with several guests describing it as spotlessly clean and well-presented. Only one review mentions a stuffy smell and a dirty washing machine, but this is outweighed by the positive feedback.

Guests appreciate the peaceful village setting, proximity to dog walks, local pubs, and easy access to the Peak District and Chesterfield. The location is described as ideal for exploring the area, with only minor comments about the uphill walk from the car park.

The cottage is frequently described as comfortable, cosy, and spacious, with warm interiors and comfortable beds. A few guests mention steep stairs and a hard mattress as minor drawbacks, but overall comfort is highly rated.

The cottage is well-equipped with modern amenities, two log burners, and a secure garden. However, several guests mention issues with water pressure, an old washing machine, and a non-working dishwasher, indicating some maintenance is needed.

Many guests mention thoughtful touches such as welcome packs, treats for dogs, and Christmas hampers. While these gestures are appreciated, it should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

The location of the cottage is great for exploring Chesterfield and the surrounding area. It was a well-equipped cottage and very pet friendly. There are some issues with the cottage however that need attention and have been mentioned in previous reviews. The path to the cottage is dangerously after rain and needs attention. It is also impossible to have a shower which lasts more than two minutes due to the drop in water pressure. There was also no working dishwasher which wasn’t ideal. For the money being paid, these things should be rectified and puts me off staying again.

We stayed in Yew tree cottage over Christmas and would highly recommend, Its the coziest cottage we've stayed in. The log burners give you the ambience you want from a cottage but in all honesty the central heating works well on its own. We took cooking utensils with us as we've been caught out before but we really didn't need to, this cottage caters for everything. A nice blend of old and new with the spacious kitchen extension and the 2 reception rooms giving you room for all the family. Don't be put off by the walk from the car park area unless you have mobility issues, a trolley is provided to help transport you're luggage etc and I counted it to be around 200 steps so its not a far as the pictures make it look. A 1 minute walk to the pub, 10 minute drive to shops and walking trails if you want something more than the walks from the cottage can offer. Overall it was a great Xmas get away, can't fault it.

We just got back after a lovely week in this cottage. It was clean and tiday and very well equipt to make our stay enjoyable. Although nights were chilly we remained warm without needing to light a fire in either of the two burners. The kitchen is lovely and well equipt, I enjoyed the snug and my wife and her mum loved the lounge recliners. Morrisons was about 3 miles away to stock up and an easy drive. The wifi was sufficient, but don't expect it to be high speed. The only negatives were the parking, which is further up the road than the instructions say, just look for the wooden pieces at the entrance. There is a Yew tree in the garden that was shedding its fruit, you should beware not to let kids or your dogs touch them, it can be fatal for humans or animals if the seeds are ingested. I had some trouble getting Sky to connect in the snug, but after a little fiddling in settings managed to easily. That said, this is a well appointed, warm and comfortable cottage, in a quiet location, ample bedding is supplied and we found the matress to the double bed comfortable. Note that there is a bit of an uphill stroll from the car parking area to the cottage, or a shorter path from the other side of the cottage. We really appreciated the welcome pack, and the useful info in the visitors pack. This is one of the better cottages we've stayed in 10/10.
