Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, enclosed garden, and dog-friendly touches. The property offers a blend of character and modern amenities, with thoughtful extras provided by the hosts. Overall, it is a popular choice for families and dog owners seeking a relaxing rural retreat.

Most guests found the cottage clean, tidy, and well-presented, with several describing it as spotless. However, a minority reported issues such as dead flies, dirty kitchen areas, and a neglected garden, which brought down the overall impression.

Guests consistently mention the cottage's comfort, with cosy lounges, comfortable beds, and a homely atmosphere. Some found the stairs steep and one bed too firm, but overall comfort levels are high.

The cottage is generally described as well-equipped, with good kitchen facilities, Sky TV, and thoughtful extras. However, recurring issues with water pressure, the washing machine, dishwasher, and some maintenance concerns were noted by several guests.

Many guests appreciated the welcome packs, dog treats, and other thoughtful touches provided by the hosts. Please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

We have just returned home after our stay at Yew Tree Cottage, and I wanted to leave an honest review.Firstly, there are some lovely positives. The cottage is a great size with a well-equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds and Sky TV in both lounges, which was a lovely touch. We also really appreciated the dog-friendly extras, including the dog beds, water bowls and dog biscuits. The complimentary shampoo, conditioner and body wash were good quality too. There was a welcome basket, which was a nice gesture, although it felt a little minimal.Unfortunately, there were several issues that let the property down. The first impression wasn’t great. The parking area looked scruffy and unkempt, and the uphill walk to the cottage was difficult to find, with more grass than pathway. I can only imagine how difficult this would be in wet weather, as the path could become very slippery. It would also be challenging for anyone with a pushchair, mobility issues or lots of luggage. The garden also looked neglected and could do with some attention.Cleanliness was disappointing. There were large numbers of dead flies on the floors, tables and kitchen worktops when we arrived. The kitchen sink area was dirty around the draining board and washing-up bowl, and the silicone behind the sink was mouldy and peeling away. We also found dead ants in the sugar bowl, and the kitchen bin was dirty at the bottom and smelled so unpleasant that we had to bleach it before using it.There were also some maintenance issues that need addressing urgently. The bathroom sink was loose and nearly came away when leaned on, the overhead shower in the main bathroom wasn’t usable, and most concerning of all, the handrail on the stairs to the top floor came away while being used, creating a genuine safety risk. Finally, we found the gentleman who came to speak to us regarding my son-in-law’s car to be quite rude, which left us feeling uncomfortable.Overall, the cottage has a lot of potential and some really thoughtful touches, particularly for dog owners, but the cleanliness, maintenance and first impressions need significant improvement. Addressing these issues would make a huge difference to future guests’ experience.

A particularly nice cottage with everything needed for a very pleasant stay. Couldn't fault anything. The fresh bread, eggs, bakewells and biscuits added a very thoughtful touch.
