About this property

Situated in the rural community of Snelston, Derbyshire, is this delightful, single-storey abode, Adelaide Cottage. Set on a working farm with a grand farmhouse and two lakes in the grounds, Adelaide Cottage is a fantastic choice for couples looking to get away from it all. After finding the designated parking spaces, step into this charming abode, discovering the living/dining room where you can flick on the electric fire and cosy up with a good movie. Move into the country style kitchen, where you will be assisted by an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and even a washing machine, so you can easily freshen up your wardrobe! Be sure to take advantage of the on-site facilities, including an indoor swimming pool with Jacuzzi, providing endless hours of entertainment during those rainy days. Come morning, enjoy a coffee whilst planning your itinerary, starting with a visit to the Darley Moor, where you'll find a café, or head to Roston and enjoy a pint at the Roston Inn. When you’re ready to tackle the day, begin your travels into the National Park, dotted with superb walking trails, landmarks and the chance to cycle, horse ride and canoe across the park; visit Reynards Cave, climb up to Manifold Valley, or follow the Wolfscote Dale trail. Visit Ashbourne for a greater choice of amenities; enjoy a meal at The Bridge, shop for the essentials at convenience stores, have a picnic in Ashbourne Park, or time your trip to catch the yearly Shrovetide football game, which is played on Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday. For an adventure-filled day out, head to Alton Towers and enjoy some of the UK’s best roller coasters, while there’s also the Sharkbait Reef aquarium, and National Trust - The Old Manor, boasting pretty gardens and a medieval hall. Experience the best of the Derbyshire Dales with a break at Adelaide Cottage.

Rocester, a charming little community, is situated in a triangle of land between the Rivers Churnet and Dove on the boundary of Derbyshire and Staffordshire. The Domesday Book mentions the settlement, and the location of a Roman fort is still visible today. The renowned JCB factory is located in Rocester, and the business has manicured the area in order to create some lovely walks with some intriguing sculptures around the facility and the adjoining parkland. The Fossor, a potent allusion to JCB fashioned completely of bits from a digger, is the most significant of these. The Limestone Way, which leads to Matlock, begins in Rocester, which is also halfway along the Staffordshire Way, which traverses the entire length of Staffordshire. The charming market town of Ashbourne is close to Rocester, and Alton Towers, which offers family-friendly entertainment, is only a short drive away. Discover the historic homes, market towns, moorland, rolling hills, and valleys of the Peak District National Park in either Staffordshire or Derbyshire, all of which are close to Rocester.

The cottage was really well appointed and comfortable. We even used the pool a couple of times. We had a lovely week there and consider that we were lucky with the weather when it came to our little trips out. A lovely cottage, a lovely couple and a lovely break. We would highly recommend this cottage..

  • Yvonne

Well appointed and with the added bonus of an indoor heated pool. The owners Helen and Laurence were perfect hosts, very discreet and accommodating. The cottage looks better in real life than the photo and it is quiet and comfortable. The working farm doesn’t disturb, but the animals (dogs, cats, ducks and goats) are very friendly. We would definitely make a return visit.

  • Isy

Peaceful, Idyllic surroundings. Charming owners are close-by to sort out any problems. Excellent base for day trips to Peak District towns and attractions. Private pool available is amazing. On the estate you’ll see grazing sheep, a Llama, ducks, two friendly cats, and three extremely friendly dogs. Highly recommend.
