Hall Farm Bungalow offers a peaceful rural retreat in a charming village setting, with beautiful views and excellent walking opportunities nearby. Guests appreciate the spacious garden, dog-friendly environment, and proximity to a welcoming local pub. While the property is comfortable and well-equipped, several reviews mention that it would benefit from modernisation and a little extra care. Cleanliness and maintenance standards are mixed, but many guests enjoyed a cosy and relaxing stay, making it a good base for exploring the area.
Cleanliness feedback is mixed. Some guests found the bungalow clean and homely, while others reported issues such as cobwebs, dust, damp smells, and dog hair. A few reviews mentioned the need for a deeper clean, especially under beds and in corners.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, scenic views, and access to lovely walks. The village is described as friendly, with a great pub nearby and easy access to Ashbourne and local attractions.
Guests generally found the beds comfortable and the bungalow cosy, but some noted issues with dampness, cold on arrival, and uncomfortable or dated furniture. The property is spacious for small groups and offers a relaxing atmosphere.
Facilities are adequate, with a well-equipped kitchen and provided towels, but several guests noted the need for modernisation, better heating, improved WiFi, and maintenance of items like the shower, garden fence, and driveway.
Some guests mentioned a lack of welcome touches such as milk or a card, and noted minimal supplies (e.g., only one hand towel, limited soap). While some essentials are provided, extra thoughtful gestures are not guaranteed.

This was my second visit to Hall Farm Bungalow. The beds are very comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed. The views from the garden are beautiful. There is one pub in the village which serves good food, there is no shop but Ashbourne is under 10 mins drive away which has everything you could need. Osmaston is another pretty village nearby and there is a lovely circular walk to it from the doorstep of the bungalow there is a lovely pub in Osmaston which serves decent food and beer.

Hall Farm Bungalow is in a lovely village, and everybody we met was very friendly. The accommodation was warm and spacious, but, as mentioned in other reviews it is in need of modernisation. The shower is pitiful. It’s also worth noting that the garden isn’t secure, with a broken fence into the back field, and access onto the road, so any dogs need to be kept on leads. It was a good base to explore surrounding area from and would have had a better review if the bungalow had some T.L.C

A perfect bungalow in an amazing location. Lots of walks around the beautiful village of Shirley. The excellent pub was only a hundred meters away serving great beer and food. The accommodation was clean and homely and had wonderful views from every window. Great garden for the dog and plenty of parking too. Many thanks for a wonderful break.
