Barn Owl Cottage is a modern barn conversion on a working farm, appreciated for its location close to Matlock and Cromford. Guests enjoyed the proximity to nature, local attractions, and the farm experience. The cottage is described as homely, comfortable, and well-equipped, with a welcome bottle of wine mentioned. While some cleanliness issues were noted, the overall experience was positive, with many guests intending to return.
Most guests found the cottage to be clean and comfortable. However, there were mentions of cobwebs and a gritty worktop upon arrival, suggesting room for improvement in cleaning standards between guests.
The location is highly praised for its beauty and convenience, with easy access to public transport, local nature reserves, and tourist attractions. However, the steep approach may not be suitable for everyone.
The cottage is consistently described as homely and comfortable, providing a relaxing environment for families. The presence of a wet-room is appreciated, though the lack of grab rails was noted.
The cottage is well-equipped for self-catering, with a good WiFi connection and ample outdoor space. Some guests felt that the communal areas and recycling facilities could be better maintained.
Guests were touched by the welcome bottle of wine and the provision of local leaflets and books. While these gestures are appreciated, it is politely noted that such gifts are not guaranteed.

A fantastic cottage, in a wonderful location. It was great to be on a working farm, my daughter loved seeing all of the animals every day. It is also really close to both a railway station and bus stops in Cromford, and close enough to Matlock Bath to walk. Be prepared for a short distance of road walking to get to these if you would like a break from driving everywhere on holiday. The area is beautiful, with many public footpaths, local nature reserves and the Cromford Canal to visit. Also lots of tourist attractions and amenities in the local villages. The cottage itself is a really modern and well presented barn conversion providing a large area for our family of 3 to relax. It was wet when we were there so did not get to enjoy the courtyard with ample tables chairs and barbeques, shared with the other 2 cottages on site. There was a welcome bottle of wine on arrival, with everything you could need, efficient heater and cosy electric fire, good WiFi connection and TV for when you are not out and about. The dishwasher was a great addition to make the holiday even more relaxing.Thank you for a fantastic holiday, we intend to come back soon, as we simply could not fit all of the things to do in the area in to a single week.

lovely sized accommodation that we were able to take our dogs to..Situated on a working farm, but not really anywhere suitable to walk the dogs other than down a very steep drive to the main road and then onto Cromford. Our dogs are only small so a bit of a trek for them.Cottage was well equipped for self catering with microwave and cooker.Towels,t towels all supplied Unfortunately for us we felt the cleanliness of the cottage and overall appearance of the cottage was not to a very good standard.cobwebs throughout the property and the work top in the kitchen when we arrived felt gritty, but when we wiped it down it was much better so one assumes it was never cleaned properly between guests. In the external communal area garden chairs / tables and bbqs are provided for the three cottages to share, again this was very much let down by area for the bins for recycling etc that looked had not been emptied and tidied with bottles and boxes from previous guestsIt’s a property with a bit more TLC and attention to detail could be so much better

We stayed at this cottage couple of years ago and loved it so much that we came back. It is situated near very nice small town. It has so many interesting places to see. We also hired a kayak by a lovely canal. I would strongly recommend this cottage.
