Guests say

Barn Owl Cottage receives high praise for its cosy, well-equipped accommodation and peaceful setting on a working farm, with guests enjoying the charming rural atmosphere and proximity to local walks and attractions. The cottage is appreciated for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and thoughtful touches, making it a comfortable base for exploring Derbyshire. While some mention steep access and occasional mattress discomfort, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.

Multiple reviews highlight the cottage as clean, well-presented, and tidy, with only one mention of a cleaning oversight that was promptly resolved. The consistent positive feedback indicates a high standard of cleanliness.

Guests frequently praise the location for its tranquillity, beautiful surroundings, and easy access to Cromford, Matlock, and local walks. The only recurring caution is the steep hill, which may challenge those with limited mobility.

The cottage is described as cosy, warm, and comfortable, with many guests enjoying restful stays. A few mention mattresses being a little hard or uncomfortable, but this is outweighed by the overall comfort reported.

Facilities are generally well-received, with guests noting a well-equipped kitchen, ample parking, and a wet room. Some minor suggestions include the addition of grab rails and a washing machine, but these do not detract significantly from guest satisfaction.

Guests appreciate thoughtful touches such as welcome bottles of wine and local information leaflets. While these gestures are warmly received, it should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

Lovely cottage with all that you need in a good location. The only small criticism is that we found the mattresses uncomfortable..

The cottage was excellent value for money with pkenty of character and we really enjoyed the court yard. Will definitely recommend to family and friends.

This did exactly what it said on the tin. Priced appropriately. If you expect new and refurbed you will be wrong. This is a quirky older style barn conversion on a working farm, off the beaten track, stocked with all the essentials. Laid out nicely between the other two holiday lets, this sleeps 4 is well thought out, shared courtyard but rarely saw the neighbours. Short walk down the hill to the canal/village/church/river walks. Easy reach of Cromford train station.
