Paws in the Pines is a secluded cottage offering a peaceful stay with a wood-fired hot tub and a fenced garden for dogs. While some guests appreciated the quiet location and the log fire, others were disappointed with the restricted woodland access and the lack of warmth during colder months.
Cleanliness received mixed reviews, with several guests noting issues such as dirty cups, a full vacuum cleaner, and dog faeces in the garden. However, some guests found the cottage clean upon arrival.
The location is praised for its peacefulness and proximity to Boston, though some guests were disappointed by the lack of nearby public footpaths for dog walking and the difficulty in finding the property in the dark.
Comfort scores are lowered due to uncomfortable seating, inefficient underfloor heating, and a lack of warmth upstairs. The size of the bed and the state of the furniture also contributed to the lower score.
Facilities and maintenance issues include slow-draining showers, lack of a washing machine and freezer, and poor internet signal. The wood-fired hot tub was a highlight, though it requires time to heat.
There is insufficient information to score thoughtfulness accurately. While some guests mentioned a lack of a welcome pack, others did not comment on gifts or thoughtful touches, so it cannot be determined if this is a consistent issue.

We booked this holiday as we wanted to take our dogs away for the first time. The property was advertised as dog-friendly, which it was to some extent; however, dogs were not allowed on the furniture and only a small dog bed was provided, which unfortunately was far too small for our dogs. It would have been helpful if dog bowls were provided, and a small welcome pack with a few treats would have been a thoughtful touch. The property itself was quite basic, which we expected given that it accommodates dogs. However, the overall cleanliness was disappointing. There was evidence of dog urine on the upstairs skirting boards, chunks of food left in the sink, the toilet was not clean, and there were yellow marks on the blankets provided.Only one bag of kindling was supplied despite the temperatures being below freezing. This lasted just one night. Although the property has a log burner downstairs, there was no heating upstairs, and overall it was the coldest place we have ever stayed. We spent a significant amount of time travelling to the local Asda to buy wood, which was considerably cheaper than purchasing it from the owners at £15 per bag.We also attempted to use the hot tub, but after two hours of trying to heat it, it did not warm up at all. As we needed the wood to keep the property warm, we decided not to continue with it. Due to the cold upstairs, we ended up sleeping on the sofa bed rather than using the bedroom. We were also unaware that the woodland area was not accessible until reading other reviews, which was disappointing. On a positive note, we did find some good walking routes nearby.Pros: Good size garden, would be better in the summer, nice and secluded property.Cons: Don't recommend in winter, take your own logs.

Freezing cold, the underfloor heating was totally inefficient. The “welcome” logs only lasted a couple of hours. No welcome pack which is quite mean. The bath doesn’t drain after a shower so if there are two people or more you have to stand ankle deep in the other person’s dirty water. The toothbrush mug was gross, thick grey mould on the bottom. The grass was quite long so searching for dog poo was not easy. Probably the worst cottage I have stayed in.
