On entry, be captivated by the open-plan living area, featuring parquet flooring throughout, an electric fire, a Smart TV, homely furnishings, and dining furniture, acting as the core of the cottage.

Accommodating your self-catering needs, head through to the well-equipped kitchen, where you'll find all essentials to cook up a family brunch or evening meal, setting you up for your forthcoming plans. If you prefer to dine amid the fresh air, opt for alfresco dining in the rear courtyard, offering a private and intimate setting for an evening under the stars. As the evening grows darker, refresh in the ground-floor shower room, before heading upstairs to two attractive bedrooms with sufficient storage; including a king-size with Smart TV, and a further double. As a city, Lincoln is renowned for its getaways, with extensive amenities, attractions, and events to experience, along with its close links to alluring villages, including Newark and Somersby.

When arranging your itinerary, you will be spoilt for choice, with nearby access to the Museum of Lincolnshire Life, celebrating the city’s culture from 1750, the grand Lincoln Castle, the Grade II historical gardens of Lincoln Arboretum and the remarkable Lincoln Cathedral, which featured on a Ridley Scott movie starring Joaquin Pheonix. Within the city you can also explore the delights of The Collection Museum, peruse art at the Usher Art Gallery, refuel at The Lawn, visit the art and culture venues of The New Theatre Royal, The Drill, LPAC, purchase fresh and local produce at the farmers, antique and makers markets in Castle Square, enjoy a leisurely stroll down Steep Hill, dating back to Roman times and named ‘Best Street in Britain’ by the Academy of Urbanism in 2012, or indulge in some retail therapy or a tasty lunch at one of the various outlets and restaurants peppered along the high street and Brayford Pool.

Keen walkers and cyclists will delight at the renowned Viking Way Trail which passes through Lincoln, as well as the nearby National Cycle Route. Your new home is less than 4-miles away from Lincolnshire Showground, which plays host to numerous events throughout the year, including the much-loved Lincolnshire Show in July. For family-friendly days in the outdoors, Lincoln has good train links to the thriving town of Newark. If you don’t fancy driving, Lincoln train station and bus stations are within easy reach. Nearby attractions also include the gardens of Sconce and Devon Park, Sherwood Forest and its adventurous activities. With many 'to-dos' to encounter, choose Minster Cottage as your abode in Lincolnshire.

The city of Lincoln has a lot to see and do, so it's a great area to visit for a vacation. Its majestic hilltop mediaeval church not only has stunning architecture, but it was also used as a film location for both The Da Vinci Code and Young Victoria's crowning scenes. Climb the tower and walk the walls of Lincoln Castle for panoramic views of the city. In the summer, the castle grounds host an open-air theatre, pop and rock concerts, and re-enactment weekends. Lincoln's Magna Carta is also kept at the castle. Although very close to the City centre (10 minute walk to the Cathedral), it was very quiet. Some good restaurants nearby, and a very friendly new coffee shop (independent) less than two minutes’ walk. Opens at 8 (9 on Sunday). The owners of Minster are very friendly, and the welcome pack is excellent.

The cottage itself is well positioned for walks into the Bailgate area and within easy reach of the cathedral and a great choice of bars, restaurants and shops. We were able to park our car and enjoy all that Lincoln has to offer. Our hosts, Gemma and Sam were so welcoming and helpful and had put up lovely tasteful Christmas decorations and left a generous amount of goodies for us. The cottage itself is lovely, everything you could possibly need and all beautifully laid out and so clean and new, a real home from home. We will certainly look forward to returning.

As soon as we arrived we felt at home the welcome hamper was beautiful and a lovely touch. Extremely well equipped with lots of little extras and great facilities, everything you need for a week away. Perfect location for walking into uphill Lincoln or further down into the city for the more energetic, there is a bus back. The parking permit is a real bonus. Gemma was in touch from making our booking right the way through and was a pleasure to deal with, thank you so much.
