This smartly furnished, detached, contemporary holiday home is peacefully situated in the village of Timberland, overlooking the lawns and fishing lake of Peacock Waters (silverfish and carp to 31lb). Excellent cycling territory, with the ’water railway’ riverside path 5 miles away leading to Woodhall Spa, Lincoln, Tattershall and Boston. Woodhall Spa (6 miles) offers the ’Kinema in the Woods’ - a unique cinema experience - the summer swimming lido, tennis and a championship golf course. Horncastle (10 miles) has varied vintage shops. Coningsby (9 miles) is home to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. The city of Lincoln with medieval cathedral, castle and smart shopping is 15 miles. Newark is 25 miles and the east coast beaches are approximately 35 miles. Pub just under 1 mile away.

We've just come back from a few days of absolute peace and quiet. Peacock Barn is in a remote location, and it's very, very quiet. It's lovely sitting outside looking over the lake first thing in the morning. The silence is broken by the Typhoons flying over from RAF Coningsby. My son and I loved that. Both my sons and I enjoyed going up to Lincoln Castle and walking down steep hill, sadly I only managed to get halfway. Woodhall Spa is nice if you want to look around small business shops. We went to Tesco at Horncastle for our shopping. When you travel around to get to different places, the roads are single track farm roads. Coming out of the barn, I'd advise not turning left and going down that road because it is full of large potholes, and the road is again single track.The accommodation is not as spacious as it looks on the photos, but it's still a good size. There needs to be blinds on the windows in the living room so you can watch DVD's, there also needs to be rugs put on the living room as it's extremely slippy. I tried to sit in the rocking chair, and as I went to move the cushions it tipped forward and I slipped on the floor. I fell on the floor hitting my hip and knee. Amanda and Adam were great hosts and very helpful. The only bad thing was being asked to empty the bins, clean the kitchen, strip the beds and hoover before we left. I came on holiday to get away from that. We were also asked to remove our shoes. Didn't like that. The pub down the road the penny farthing serves great food and there's a quiz on a Wednesday.
