Guests say

Roundhill cottage receives glowing praise for its peaceful countryside setting, spacious and well-equipped interiors, and warm, welcoming atmosphere. Guests consistently highlight the beautiful views, generous welcome touches, and the property's suitability for families and dog owners. The location offers easy access to local attractions while providing a tranquil retreat. While a few guests noted minor issues with mattresses and garden enclosure, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Multiple reviews mention the property being lovely and clean, with mid-stay cleaning and fresh bedding provided for longer stays. No significant cleanliness issues were raised.

The cottage is praised for its peaceful, rural location with scenic views and wildlife, yet remains conveniently close to Banbury and Cotswold attractions. Some mention the need for a car for local amenities, but this does not detract from the overall appeal.

Guests describe the cottage as spacious, cosy, and comfortable, with ample towels and bedding. A few noted that some mattresses could be firmer or replaced, but this was a minor issue in otherwise positive feedback.

The property is described as very well equipped, with a modern kitchen, utility room, and thoughtful extras such as a log burner and smart TV. Only minor items like a missing hairdryer or tin-opener were mentioned, with assurances from the owner to address them.

Guests frequently mention generous welcome packs, homemade cake, fruit, and seasonal treats, as well as the owner's friendly and attentive approach. Please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

We returned for our second stay at this lovely cottage, which says a lot about how much we enjoyed our first visit. The location, just outside Banbury in Oxfordshire, is excellent and provides easy access to so many beautiful parts of the country. It’s an ideal base for exploring the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and beyond. The bungalow is spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen, a large comfortable living area and wonderful views across the surrounding farmland, where we enjoyed watching the horses and taking in the peaceful countryside. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dog, although it’s worth making sure the gates are closed properly. The old cast iron gates are showing their age, so care is needed when opening and closing them. The owners have thought of almost everything. There were plenty of essentials provided, including toilet rolls, cleaning products, condiments and other everyday items, meaning we didn’t need to pack half the things we usually would. The welcome goodies were especially appreciated – a loaf of bread, milk, biscuits, a fruit basket, and best of all, a delicious homemade peach jam and cream sponge cake, which was a lovely personal touch. There were also lots of games available, making it easy to relax in the evenings or on rainy days. The owners struck the perfect balance between being welcoming and giving guests their privacy. Liz called in briefly on our first day to make sure everything was alright, checked in again partway through the week, and came to say goodbye before we left. We never felt disturbed but knew help was there if we needed it.There are just a couple of areas that could be improved. The mattress on the double bed is due for replacement, as the springs are quite noticeable and it wasn’t particularly comfortable, especially if you have back problems. The patio area and garden furniture are also looking a little tired. They’re perfectly adequate for breakfast or a drink outside, but not somewhere we’d choose to sit for longer meals. One final point to mention is the private road leading from the main road to the property. which is around half a mile long but is quite badly broken however some drivers still travel along it far too quickly, even when approaching the entrance to the bungalow … so a defined suitable speed limit is perhaps required Most were relatively minor points and shouldn’t stop holidaymakers booking but the bed may be the stumbling block for us due to my wife’s back issues This is a peaceful, spacious and well-equipped cottage in a beautiful rural setting, with thoughtful hosts and everything needed for a comfortable stay. We’d happily recommend it and would love to visit again.

Roundhill is an excellent base for a weeks break. The cottage was very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. It was lovely to sit outside in the evening and watch the wildlife. The owner came and introduced herself on the first evening and made sure that we had everything that we needed. She had also provided a wonderful welcome pack - the best that we have ever received. There is plenty to do in the area but you could also just sit back and enjoy the quiet and the view out over the fields.

This cottage is a modern bunglow so no olde worlde charm but inside is excellently fitted up with everything you could wish for with the exception of a hairdryer and tin-opener. ( Owner said there had been one and would be replaced!) .Looking for faults , the mattresses were a bit hard and the springs had gone in the double bed ( again , owner said it would be sorted ).The surroundings were green fields in all directions so very peaceful and wildlife friendly .outlook.Banbury only 10 miles for supermarkets and cheap petrol in Tesco, which was a bonus.Welcome pack included a home made sponge cake ! Which was above and beyond what visitors could expect!
