Guests say

Kings Retreat in Oakham is generally praised for its cosy and comfortable accommodation, with a convenient location close to town and attractions like Rutland Water. Guests appreciate the warm atmosphere, good communication with the owner, and the property's suitability for both short and longer stays.

The property is mostly described as tidy and clean, though some guests noted minor issues with cleanliness such as a damp smell, unclean mop and bucket, and a lack of extra toilet rolls. These appear to be isolated incidents rather than a consistent problem.

The location is highly regarded for its proximity to Oakham's shops, cafes, and pubs, as well as nearby attractions like Rutland Water and Stamford. Road parking is adequate despite the narrow street.

Guests find the accommodation comfortable, with a warm environment and comfy beds, although there are comments about the single beds being less comfortable and the presence of a communal walkway that was not initially apparent.

The property is well-equipped with plenty of gadgets and amenities, and guests were pleased with the heating and welcome basket during a Christmas stay. However, there were remarks about missing items like kitchen scissors, a bulb needing replacement, and a lack of information file or welcome pack.

While some guests mentioned a welcome basket and milk in the fridge, these gestures are not consistently reported across reviews, and it is not clear if such thoughtfulness is a standard practice. Therefore, it is politely noted that such gifts are not guaranteed.

Comfortable and very well equipped. We appreciated having the heating on when we arrived as we were staying over Christmas. There was also a welcome basket of cookies as well as milk in the fridge. Jonny rang to check everything was to our satisfaction which was kind of him.

Johnny was very helpful and made sure we were all happy with everything we needed. The house itself was so lovely- spotlesly clean, lovely decor and more amenities than listed! Would definitely recommend and will more then likely be returning again !

Perfect for a short stay meeting family and exploring Rutland. Handy for the pie shop.
