About this property

Cockermouth 2.6 miles. Resting in Eaglesfield, near Cockermouth in Cumbria is Beckside House, a contemporary three-bedroom dwelling. Upon the cusp of the Lake District National Park, whilst enjoying off-road parking, a stylish interior, and flexible sleeping arrangements, the property welcomes six guests and one furry companion to relish in a countryside escape. Take advantage of the off-road parking on offer, before entering the homely living/dining room, complete with plush seating, a TV, and a dining space, to gather as a group. Locate the sleek kitchen, fully-equipped with state-of-the-art appliances, to ease your self-catered stay and help you rustle up delicious meals. If you'd prefer to dine alfresco, head outside to the private patio, and enjoy your picturesque surroundings, before returning indoors to refresh in either the ground-floor shower room, or the indulgent bathroom with a free-standing bath. When sleep calls, select between three well-appointed bedrooms, including a double, a ground-floor double, and a twin, offering flexibility for your party. Awaken to an itinerary of nature-filled activities, starting off with a tour of Wordworth House and Gardens, nurtured by the National Trust, before brushing up on your cultural knowledge at the Castlegate House Gallery. Travelling towards Bassenthwaite, enjoy an immersive trekking experience at the Alpacaly Ever After attraction, take a hike across the Dubwath Silver Meadows Nature Reserve, opt for the ideal vantage point at Bassenthwaite Lake Viewing Point, or summit Skiddaw, the sixth highest mountain in England. Keswick is also a short journey away, brimming with attractions, including Keswick Museum, Derwent Pencil Museum, the Theatre By The Lake, showcasing a range of events, and Derwentwater for the perfect canoeing opportunities. Take to Cumbria with Beckside House as your base.

Despite being only 13 miles from Keswick, the sleepy agricultural market town of Cockermouth is located in the peaceful northwest region of the Lake District. The National Trust presently operates Wordsworth's Georgian family home on the main street, which is a well-liked tourist destination. The town is well-known for being the birthplace of both Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and William Wordsworth. Cockermouth has a nice selection of stores, bars, and restaurants, but (obviously) the area's major draw is the stunning scenery and fantastic hiking in the northern lakes, including Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water, and Derwent Water.

It was a lovely village to stay in. We did find the oven /microwave and fridge not very clean. The shower in the downstairs bathroom when using the top shower head causes the water to go out under the door into the hallway. In the kitchen there was little cutlery 4 forks and 1 dessert spoon between 6 of us. The patio door (left side) key when used to unlock had snapped. Being a dog owner I found it surprising there were no gate/fence around the property to keep the dog in. A blind in the upstairs double bedroom would also benefit from a blind in the velux window. Also had trouble connecting to the WIFI password was incorrect when enter from the back of the router and there were a couple passwords written in the comment book which we struggled to read if some where capital letters/numbers. We tried to call mobile number thats was left which was not recognised. I think if these little things were addressed it would have been a more pleasurable stay.

Off-road parking for 3 cars which is important if people are coming from different places. Modern, bright, clean, warm property. Everything was set up for a thoroughly enjoyable week exploring the Lakes and lovely coastal areas and towns.

It was good to get basics like toilet paper, soap, etc. Hopefully we will get to return soon.
