Windrush in Portinscale is highly praised for its stunning views, cleanliness, and prime location close to Keswick and local walks. Guests appreciate the well-equipped, comfortable, and homely feel, with special mentions of the garden and conservatory. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests planning to return.
The property is consistently described as very clean, with several reviews highlighting its spotlessness. There is a single mention of a dirty floor and a smelly hoover, but these appear to be isolated incidents in the context of otherwise glowing feedback.
The location is universally acclaimed for its proximity to Keswick, local pubs, and scenic walks. The uninterrupted views and ease of access to the Northern Lakes contribute to the high score, with guests frequently mentioning the convenience and beauty of the setting.
Guests find the property extremely comfortable, with numerous positive comments about the cosy atmosphere and comfortable beds. The property is described as a 'home from home', although there is a single mention of a smell in the main bedroom which slightly impacts the score.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with the property being described as well-equipped. However, there are several mentions of minor maintenance issues such as broken outside lights, a broken sun parasol, and a need for clearer instructions for appliances. These small issues prevent a perfect score.
Guests mention welcome items such as milk, bread, and biscuits, which are appreciated, though there is a note that these are not always provided. The provision of dog treats and secure garden space for pets also reflects thoughtfulness. However, the inconsistency in welcome gifts slightly lowers the score.

Only one small thing, the bath is very very slippery when bathing or showering especially for an older generation otherwise fine

It has everything we could ask for, perfect for our dog with the enclosed garden and field right opposite and an ideal location to walk into Keswick (15minutes) and explore the Lakes.

What a beautiful house in a stunning setting. It was warm, spotlessly clean with very comfy beds and sofas. Very well equipped with a kitchen that was easy to use. Loved the tea, coffee, bread and milk left upon our arrival. Molly the dog loved the treats. The side door into the conservatory was very handy with a muddy dog after our walks, great for storing muddy boots and wet clothing. The garden was even Spaniel proof! The views are Skiddaw from the livingroom window where mesmerising. It was very peaceful. We were very sad to leave and will definitely be booking again.
