About this property

Nestling on a beautiful country estate near Cockermouth in Cumbria, Studio Apartment at High Dyke Farm offers all the comforts of home and yet is tucked away in a rural idyll, offering the perfect holiday escape for two. Set in stunning surroundings, the apartment benefits from outside space with patio furniture and a barbecue making any time spent outdoors, time well spent. If the weather isn’t so good, then there is even a covered area perfect for rainy days and summer evenings. Step up to the apartment and open the door into an enchanting space which has everything needed for a romantic break.

There is an attractive sofa positioned in front of a TV, perfect for curling up together and chilling out while watching your favourite programmes. The small but perfectly formed kitchen is well-equipped enough to be able to produce delicious foods for your partner and the breakfast bar is the ideal place to pull up a stool and sit side by side tucking into intimate meals together. At night, you can’t beat the feeling of slipping into the sumptuous king-size bed and in the morning, there is nowhere better to freshen up than in the en-suite shower room. Head out and start exploring with loads of walks and trails from the front door or for something more challenging, drive to the Lake District which is close by.

Check out places of interest such as National Trust Wordsworth House and Gardens, the dramatic Lodore Falls, or enjoy day trips to nearby towns and villages such as Keswick, Cockermouth and Embleton. For a romantic retreat nestling in an impressive countryside setting, Studio Apartment at High Dyke Farm is an excellent option.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
