Borrowdale View is a small, basic cottage set in a very rural location. It is a great base for walkers/hikers as some walks start here, including Blencathra. There are two pubs and a coffee shop in the village, about a mile down the road from the cottage (uphill on the way back!). We visited the Horse and Farrier for a meal which was good but a bit pricey and you will need to book to guarantee a table at a day and time you would like. There are no food shops in Threlkeld so provisions will need to be brought with you or you can take a trip into Keswick which isn’t that far away. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. For me, some attention to detail could be better with regard to cleaning, but despite this we had a great stay at Borrowdale View.

Just came back from a week in August 2026. It honestly couldn't have been better. A fatastic tranquil location, but not to far away from all the main walks and towns. It was exceptionally clean, also it's dog friendly. There's everything you could possibly need for your stay as its very well equipped they seem to have thought about everything. Thank you for a fantastic visit.
