Despite the unfortunate start where the changeover had not been completed (rubbish around the place, unclean, no linen, no beds made, not hoovered) , we vacated the property and cottages.com had the property cleaned up for us while we went out for a fish & chip tea for an hour - no real harm done, just not what you need after a 3 hour drive and I'm sure they won't let that happen again. Despite that, we do like the cottage. It was great value for money, the location is fantastic, not too far from Keswick, and on the side of a ravine with its roaring water and virtually no traffic. The kitchen is perhaps a bit tired, the left side of the toaster would only work if the right side was in use (so use the right side), and the downstairs shower doesn't drain very well at all, but otherwise we found it to be a great break.

Overall we had a nice stay, the cottage is set in beautiful surroundings and in a good location for exploring the area.A few points to consider, on arrival, straight away you could see the cottage hadn't been cleaned properly. The double mattresses in the bedrooms were horrendously uncomfortable, and the pillows well, I can't imagine they cost more than about £2 each. We had to find a local homestore and buy new ones. Also, the toaster doesn't work unless you hold the bread down so maybe it's just been left there for show.Apart from those bits everything else was great, comfortable living room, smart TV, decent power showers etc...We had a resident red squirrel visit the garden most mornings which was a bonus.

Excellent holiday cottage in a quiet, peaceful location but only 10 minutes drive from the centre of Keswick. It had everything we needed plus a really nice garden and parking for 2 cars.
