Guests say

Peel Wyke offers a fantastic location just a short walk from Keswick town centre, with lovely views of the surrounding fells and easy access to local walks. Guests appreciate the warmth, spaciousness, and well-equipped kitchen, making it a practical base for exploring the area. While the property is dated and could benefit from modernisation, many find its retro charm appealing. Cleanliness and maintenance standards are inconsistent, with some guests reporting issues. Overall, Peel Wyke is ideal for those seeking value and convenience over luxury, especially if you plan to spend most of your time outdoors.

Cleanliness is mixed, with several guests noting issues such as dust, cobwebs, and the need to clean kitchen and bathroom areas on arrival. However, some reviewers found the property acceptably clean. Standards appear inconsistent.

The location is highly praised, being quiet, with excellent views and only a short walk to Keswick town centre, shops, and local walks. Parking is convenient, though the drive is steep.

Comfort is average; guests appreciate the warmth and spaciousness, but several mention uncomfortable beds, thin mattresses, and dated furnishings. The property is best suited to those not seeking luxury.

Facilities are adequate for a practical stay, with a well-equipped kitchen, hot water, and laundry. However, maintenance issues such as dated décor, worn carpets, and minor repairs are frequently mentioned.

There are no mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

Comfortable property but in need of some attention. It is an older property and not modernised. We identified quite a few issues which were dealt with by cottages.com almost immediately apart from the tv aeriel bracket snapped and freezer section of fridge required defrosting. Bathroom window also not opening and shutting properly. Lovely views from dining area and back garden. Handy for walking into town. Wallpaper esp on ceilings needs attention. We would stay again if property was modernised and upgraded.

This is our second time at this property, we are in the hills all day so we look for a warm property with a hot bath/shower, parking and easy walking distance to Keswick pubs and restaurants - this property does that. The views are really good from the breakfast table and double bedroom and the parking is good - we have four wheel drive which helps as the drive is very steep, but most just Parton the road outside which is very easy. If you are likely to spend lots of time in the house, it is dated, but if you are out and about, it works well

This holiday bungslow is almost my second home, has I always try to stay at Peel Wyke on my many visits to Keswick. While some people find it a bit dated, that not something that bothers me. I find it, warm, comfortable and clean but if you have very high standards and are wanting five star luxury this may not be for you, Location is excellent, on a quiet residential street, just a ten minute walk from the centre of Keswick. You can park on the road or use the drive which is quite steep. The broadband works well. I strongly recommend this bungalow to anyone who isnt too fussy about decor and doesn't want to spend a fortune on staying somewhere ultra modern.
