About this property

Mungrisdale 1.7 miles. Hesket Newmarket 5.1 miles. Nestled on the outskirts of the quiet hamlet of Mosedale rests this delightful farmhouse cottage, Two Town End, offering a homely base for a tranquil retreat with the family to the Lake District.

Upon arrival at Two Town End, you're welcomed by a large off-road parking area, shared with the neighbouring property, where you're offered two off-road parking spaces, making unloading ahead of your stay an easy task. An enclosed patio area rests at the front of the property, featuring two wooden benches, welcoming you to take a seat and enjoy a well deserved rest after your travels, taking in the peaceful setting and planning your adventures for the days ahead.

Entering into the property you're greeted by the snug sitting room, originally built in the 17th century, and traditionally decorated with exposed wooden beams as well as a rustic period fire surround, the room offers a welcoming setting to enjoy a family film night, heating the room with the warmth of the woodburning stove in the cooler evenings. Continuing through the property, you enter into the open-plan kitchen/diner, ideal for hosting a sociable gathering with your loved ones around the table as the designated chef rustles up a host of tasty treats in the kitchen, fully-equipped with all of the necessary amenities whilst maintaining the property's traditional character with its wooden fittings and range cooker with a rustic exposed stone overhead surround.

After indulging in your culinary delights, head outside to the small enclosed garden where you can enjoy an evening tipple surrounded by the imposing fells and peaceful countryside.

Returning inside, the ground floor is completed with a convenient cloakroom featuring a basin and WC, handy for larger groups. As the day draws to a close, climb the stairs where you'll find the property's three bedrooms, a well-presented king-size bedroom, offering a zip/link feature for flexible sleeping arrangements, as well as a twin bedroom and the spacious master bedroom featuring a king-size bed, benefiting from it's own en-suite shower room and traditionally decorated with exposed wooden rafters and medieval arrow slits, offering views across the stunning countryside framed by the aspect windows.

Servicing the bedrooms is the family bathroom, featuring a walk-in shower cubicle as well as a bathtub, offering the choice between hopping in the shower or indulging in a luxurious soak in the bath after a long day.

Head out on foot to explore the quiet hamlet of Mosedale, where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the banks of the River Caldew or a hike to the top of Carrok Fell, offering scenic views across the Eden valley towards the Pennines. For a more challenging hike, head further afield to tackle Skiddaw, the sixth-highest mountain in England, boasting panoramic views across to the distant Yorkshire Dales, The Coniston Fells as well as views as far as the The Isle of Man on exceptionally clear days. If you don't fancy cooking, visit the nearby village of Caldbeck, aptly named after the river on which is stands, for a delicious meal at The Oddfellows Arms, a traditional inn serving up local produce with a tranquil view overlooking the village green. For a fun-filled day, a host of attractions worth visiting can be found in the nearby town of Penrith, including Penrith Castle, a 14th century fortress, once occupied by Richard III, set on a grassy meadow ideal for picnics, Penrith Golf Club, Happy Hooves Riding Centre and Penrith and Eden Museum, boasting displays of local history to discover. After working up an appetite, you can enjoy a bite to eat or a refreshing drink at one of the towns many pubs and restaurants, or enjoy a browse through an array of independent and high street stores.

Whatever you've got planned, Two Town End offers the perfect base for your staycation in The Lake District.

The picturesque village of Caldbeck is nestled within scenic moorland and fells on the northern fringes of the Lake District National Park. The quaint village is home to a church dating back to the 12th century, a traditional inn serving up locally sourced goods as well as a convenience store and a gift shop where you can pick up essentials and keepsakes. The village is in easy reach of the northern Lakes, as well as the towns of Keswick and Bassenthwaite.

If you're looking for peace, cosy comfort & a gorgeous view then look no further...... The children loved the freedom of exploring Mosedale on their scooters & the dogs loved the walks from the house, as did we. The cottage was cosy, comfortable & very well equipped. The real Christmas tree was a lovely surprise, as was the delightful welcome gift. The only thing we found hard was leaving at the end of the week. Many, many thanks for a memorable Christmas holiday.

Thanks to beautiful weather, we were able to go to The Tarn (Bowscale) and went out fr some lovely meals at Casa Bella and at Lake Road Brunch. Cottage is well equipped, so thank you for a lovely holiday! It's a wonderful base for walks and exploring the Lakes, with a comfortable cottage to return too.
