The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Cars are banned from the village, leaving visitors free to wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. With stunning scenery and numerous attractions within easy touring distance, Hawkshead is in an ideal location at any time of the year.

Graythwaite fishery is free for all guests and equipment can be hired locally, a small fee is applicable to keep your catch, rod fishing license required.

The accomodation was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. It's in an ideal location for walking and sightseeing. We all enjoyed the heated indoor pool and there were many activities for the grandchildren on the estate itself or a few minutes drive away. There were a couple of minor glitches which were promptly and efficiently sorted by the management team. Everyone's verdict at the end: we'll be back!

We absolutely loved our stay. Location and grounds were fantastic. Accommodation was clean and facilities were great. The corner shop was great to have so nearby and the lady serving was friendly and helpful. We made use of the swimming pool and even managed to fit in a bit of table tennis. It was lovely to walk around the estate and we were lucky with the weather to be able to sit outdoors in the evening. There was a bbq available to use if we wanted to. Plenty of activities nearby like kayaking, boat rides, cycling, etc. We didnât want to leave! The only negative was Wi-Fi signal wasnât the strongest but why would you want to be on your phone all the time in such beautiful settings?! We all definitely want to come back including the Shihpoo.

Such a quiet peaceful area. We were lucky to get good weather and the autumn colours were gorgeous . Huge lounge so loads of space for eight of us. Comfy beds. Good kitchen with a fan oven. We loved the swimming pool and how it was organised so that each property books their own time slot. Nice grounds with childrenâs play area. Lovely little shop on site for basics , childrenâs toys and activities and local candles and soap. Only niggle was that the code given to us for the key box was wrong. It started with a C but no C on the box. Frantic few minutes trying to get in and no signal on the phones but we finally cracked it ! Other than that full marks and we will go back to Graythwaites.
