Guests say

Gorse Bank is a well-regarded cottage in Broughton-in-Furness, praised for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and quiet location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, and thoughtful touches like welcome biscuits. While some furniture and maintenance issues are noted, the positive aspects and local amenities, including shops and pubs, contribute to a pleasant stay.

The property is generally described as clean and well-maintained, with several reviews highlighting its spotlessness. However, a few guests mentioned needing to clean pans before use, slightly lowering the score.

The location is highly praised for being quiet, central, and close to local amenities and attractions. It serves as an excellent base for exploring the Lake District, contributing to a high score.

Comfort receives mixed reviews. While bedrooms are often described as comfy, several guests found the sofas and beds in need of replacement. The living room seating is also noted as insufficient for larger groups.

Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and bonus features like a conservatory. However, issues with pans, window latches, and a partially blocked shower drain suggest room for improvement.

While guests mention thoughtful gestures such as welcome biscuits and scones, there is not enough information to assess consistency or guarantee of such gifts. Therefore, the score is set to null.

About this property

A semi-detached, three-storey cottage, located in a quiet corner of Broughton-in-Furness on the quiet south west corner of the Lake District. This cottage has been lovingly restored by the current owners to provide spacious, well-equipped accommodation which is ideal for a family or a group of friends wishing to get together and enjoy this largely undiscovered area. This cottage features an open plan living area with a warm and cosy woodburning stove, a delightful summer room, a modern kitchen and four well laid out bedrooms. Just a two-minute walk from the cottage is the charming town centre with its beautiful square lined with Georgian houses and the local pubs and restaurants.

Just six miles away is Coniston Water and for the more energetic there are the challenging fells of The Old Man of Coniston and Wetherlam, which offer a stiff challenge. Visit the market town of Ulverston, or explore a little further on the coastline to Ennerdale and the magnificent Scafell Pike, the tallest point in England and probably the most beautiful area in Lakeland. A wonderful cottage, to be enjoyed at any time of the year.

it was good value. But i do think there is room for improvment . Think the cleanliness could be better. And i think better quality bedding and towels are needed . There is four bedrooms. but did feel cramped in the down stairs living space.

We had to move the furniture around to create a more sociable space. The floor in the wet room does not slope adequately towards the drain. A screen between the shower and toilet would be helpful in preventing flooding. The heating was excellent the boiler was very responsive to the controller in the hall.
