This charming village is just a stone's throw from the borders of the Lake District National Park and offers wonderful and scenic opportunities for walkers, cyclists and nature enthusiasts. The village itself is well-served by a number of shops, a trio of pubs and a railway station, offering relaxing rides through the surrounding countryside. Nearby attractions include the famous Lake Windemere, where you can soak up the spectacular panorama from a boat or take a ferry trip to the Lakeside Aquarium or the Grizedale Forest Park. Ambleside, the centre of English mountaineering, is also close by offering visitors the chance to go climbing.

    We have a bigger car and didn’t have any problems going up and down the narrow lanes, we just drove carefully! Ideal staying close to Staveley village which has fresh roasted coffee cafe, best gelato parlour Kimi’s, pubs and easy access into the main Lakes areas. The bungalow interior is dated as seen in pictures but everything is functional, clean, lovely warm log burner on cool evenings, with plenty of wood. Easy parking. It was fine for us 3 adults staying, and would definitely return again.

    We love the Bungalow at Ghyll Bank, it is cosy and adequately equipped and plenty of logs ready for the fire, and a fabulous view - but what would make it perfect for us is a much better shower screen and shower head
