Resting in an elevated position equally between Lake Windermere and the centre of Ambleside village, with fine views to the fells around, is this detached holiday home, Bield How. Tastefully furnished and decorated in a contemporary style while boasting an excellent position within the Lake District National Park, Bield How is the perfect base for a family in pursuit of an adventure-filled holiday. Head through the door at the side of the property into the hallway where you can hang coats and leave boots before finding the sitting room. After a day of traversing the fells, look forward to putting your feet up whilst catching up on your favourite shows.
Discover the light and airy kitchen/diner for all your culinary essentials, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and a handy washer/dryer if your trails take off on a muddier route. As the evening draws to a close, catch your rest in the master bedroom, kitted out with a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with bath and shower over, while the twin room serves perfectly for children and benefits from an en-suite shower room. Both bedrooms have wall-mounted flat screen TVs and fitted cupboards for storing your personal belongings. Positioned close to the Waterhead district of Ambleside, you are not far from the pier which provides regular cruises across the lake, offering you a chance to see the beauty of the area with stop-offs at Bowness-on-Windermere and Lakeside. Get to know your surroundings by taking a walk into the town centre where you will be spoilt for choice by the quaint selection of shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants and even an independent cinema. Venture out of Ambleside and visit Wray Castle for the day, which has a huge, largely undiscovered gravel beach of its own, and was Beatrix Potter’s first Lakeland holiday home at the age of 16.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

Chipped crockery. No cleaning products for us to maintain the place. Only a few pieces of loo paper left. Gas fire was disconnected.

It was warm and cosy. The Aga was amazing so easy to use. The constant supply of hot water was so good. As I have mobility issues I found some of the outside steps to the property hard to use. The first steps were incredibly steep. I feel a hand rail should be put in place to make these steps safer.

Well positioned and beautifully presented and equipped. We had a mishap in that a fuse went in the socket to the washing machine but Lakelovers are super efficient and had it fixed within a couple of hours. First rate.
