Ghyllside is a spacious family home, which is situated in a very quiet and secluded cul-de-sac above the lower entrance to the Falls on the slopes of Wansfell. With super views towards the Fairfield Horseshoe at the front and Wansfell Pike behind, Ghyllside is an ideal base for a larger party of walkers or shoppers alike, given that this popular village has plenty to offer. A spacious bungalow with all the accommodation on one floor, except one bedroom and the garage, Ghyllside offers comfortable accommodation in a traditional, homely style. The house is well suited to family groups with pets, the owners simply hoping that you enjoy their second home, whatever time of the year. The enclosed rear garden and patio are well maintained and are sure to be put to good use on fine days, and in addition to the rear garden there is an pen plan front garden with shrub borders.

Location & style of the house were perfect. Not impressed with the cleanliness though, greasy marks on the kitchen floor @ worktops. Felt we had to clean everything before we used it. Almost empty bottle of degreaser & a VERY watered down washing up liquid left for us. Could do with some modernising & repairs. 2 things we looked for when booking were an open fire, which we got & a bath, which was a waste of time! We were a party of 7, including 2 young children. Run the bath & you got probably about 4” of hot water if you where lucky, Then had to wait an hour or two for the water to heat up again. Request on the notice board to strip the bed before we leave (which we always do anyway) & place them in the black sacks provided. No black sacks anywhere. All the cottages we’ve ever stayed at, there has been teabags, coffee, bits & prices left from previous tenants, most places even give you a welcome pack of basics, milk etc. this one? Half a pot of salt! The downstairs bedroom is obviously there to squeeze in 2 extra beds but, being at the back of the garage was very cold without having the electric blower on. Then the top of the room was warm, with most most of the heat travelling up to the living room, down where the bed is was freezing overnight

All in all a fantastic location, property itself is dated and could do with a refresh - cracked tiles in bathroom and bunk bed was very uncomfortable and squeaky difficult to sleep on. We were not given the key box code until ringing the emergency number on arrival and even then we were waiting 20 minutes we had requested the code 7 days prior.

Great location, enclosed garden for dogs and good off road parking. The house needs updating but if it was to be updated it would be out of my price range. It’s comfortable but tired.
