Stables Grasmere is a charming, well-equipped cottage in a peaceful yet central location, ideal for exploring Grasmere and the surrounding walks. Guests consistently praise its proximity to the village, parking convenience, and the comfort of the accommodation. Many appreciate the thoughtful welcome packs and dog-friendly touches. While most reviews highlight cleanliness and comfort, a few mention occasional maintenance or cleaning issues. Overall, the cottage is highly recommended for its excellent location, cosy atmosphere, and suitability for walkers and dog owners.

Most guests found the cottage spotlessly clean and well-presented, though a small number reported issues such as dog hair, kitchen utensils needing washing, and a strong smell of bleach. Some also mentioned the oven and shower could benefit from a deeper clean.

The location is universally praised, with guests loving the quiet setting just a short walk from Grasmere village, shops, cafes, and numerous walking routes. Onsite parking and proximity to public transport are also highlighted as major benefits.

The cottage is frequently described as comfortable, cosy, and warm, with comfortable beds and seating. A minority found the sofas or beds less comfortable, but most guests were very satisfied with the overall comfort.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen, good shower, washer/dryer, and parking. Some guests noted minor issues such as shared or weak WiFi, lack of oven gloves, blunt knives, or maintenance needs like a deep oven clean or a raised floor hazard.

Many guests appreciated the welcome packs, including treats for dogs, and noted thoughtful touches such as a teapot being added after feedback. Please note that these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

Beautiful area, lovely village and a pretty cottage. However it was dirty, we had to wash every kitchen utensil before we could use them. The sofa was covered in dog hair, so much so that we had to brush our clothes down before we went out. The shower cubicle has mould in the grout which is making it smell. There is a real H&S issue with a rise in the floor level on the landing, it is covered in carpet so that it isn't visible, I hate to think what a fall hazard this is for someone with poor stability. It was a disappointment and these issues had already been raised in the visitors book (in Feb), but not addressed.

We enjoyed our holiday in the cottage. It was close to the bus stop so we left the car on the drive all week. We used the hob and the microwave to prepare our meals as my friend is coeliac which made it easier than trying to find somewhere she and I could both eat.The notes in the Wecome Book were useful and if the weather had not been so hot we might have attempted more walks. We would have liked to have had something we could hang a bit of washing on -too small for a wash load :however we managed to dry socks on the kitchen windowsill.

Lovely little cottage ideally located close to pubs & cafes of Grasmere. Great to have off road parking, didn't use the car all week. Beautiful walks of all levels right from the front door.
