About this property

Nestled in the popular destination of Ambleside, Cumbria, is this superb three-storey Victorian mid-terrace house, Primrose Cottage. Enjoying an excellent location and set in an elevated position with far reaching views over the village, valley and surrounding hills, Primrose Cottage is the perfect pet-friendly choice for a group or family of six seeking their next getaway to the Lakes.

After parking up roadside, be greeted by a charming front patio area with bistro table and chairs, a perfect spot for enjoying your morning coffee.

Step into the inviting sitting room, where you can relax on two plush sofas in front of your favourite show on the Smart TV, as the electric fire adds a gentle warmth and glow to the space.

Impress your loved ones with delicious recipes prepared in the well-equipped kitchen/diner, featuring a handy dishwasher, ready to enjoy at the dining table for six in front of the crackling woodburning stove, sure to be your pooch’s favourite spot. On warmer days, why not dine alfresco out in the rear sloped garden at the delightful picnic bench?

The property features a handy utility room on the lower-ground-floor, where you will find a freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer for your convenience.

Follow the stairs up to the first floor, where you can prepare for bed with a soothing soak in the bath or freshen up with a hot shower. When sleep calls, retire to one of three well-appointed bedrooms, a super-king-size with zip/link and two king-size, all with plenty of storage for your belongings and a lovely outlook of the surrounding countryside.

Explore the local village, where you can delve into history at the Armitt Library & Museum Centre, test out your swing at White Platts Miniature Golf, take on the Ambleside Climbing Wall or explore the fascinating remains of the 2nd-century Ambleside Roman Fort. Ambleside is well-known for being a foodie haven, with six Michelin Star restaurants on offer, including the Drunken Duck Inn, Old Stamp House, Lake Road Kitchen and The Samling. From here you will find the famous Lake Windermere right on your doorstep, where you can try your hand at a wealth of watersports, including sailing, paddleboarding and kayaking.

Windermere offers something for everyone, whether it’s soaking up the exceptional views of the Langdale Pikes from the viewpoints of Queen Adelaide’s Hill and Orrest Head, exploring the Windermere Jetty Museum, visiting the popular World of Beatrix Potter Attraction or sampling fresh seafood at Hooked.

Continue onto Grasmere, where you can tour the former home of the great poet, William Wordsworth, hike along the River Rothay path, or venture through the man-made Rydal Cave, set on the site of a former slate quarry. Further afield, you’ll find Keswick, home to the Theatre By The Lake, Derwent Pencil Museum and the National Trust site of Derwent Island and House.

Exploring the Lakes has never been easier with a stay at Primrose Cottage.

Ambleside is a great starting point for exploring the central Lake District, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a few minutes' drive away.

Windermere, Lake Windermere and the village itself have a lot to offer visitors of all ages and interests, with a wide variety of activities to choose from.

You can enjoy beautiful views of the lake from the parkland at Waterhead, while a walk in the opposite direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the breathtaking waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Alternatively

Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
