Todd Crag is a well-liked cottage in a peaceful location with beautiful views and a spacious layout. It is appreciated for its proximity to Ambleside, comfortable beds, and modern bathrooms. The property is dog-friendly and offers a garden and parking, enhancing its appeal.
The property generally maintains good cleanliness, though some guests noted issues with garden upkeep and a need for tidier outdoor spaces. There were isolated mentions of dirt and hair in traps, suggesting room for improvement.
The location is highly praised for its tranquility, stunning views, and convenience to Ambleside and local attractions. The presence of wildlife in the area adds to its charm.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the property spacious. However, some reported issues with heating and a lack of additional blankets, which affected the overall comfort during colder periods.
Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and modern appliances. However, guests have reported maintenance issues such as problematic smoke alarms, sticky doors, and insufficient kitchenware, indicating a need for attention to detail.
There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as there are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate the level of consideration for guests' experiences.
Resting within a residential cul-de-sac, just a scenic walk from the bustling of town centre of Ambleside is this detached bungalow, Todd Crag. Situated in an elevated setting, Todd Crag enjoys views of the fells from all the rear windows and offers an ideal holiday accommodation for either two couples or a family wanting a pleasant base from which to enjoy the best of the Lake District. Arrive at the cottage and park up on the driveway before heading up a few steps to reach the front door. Step inside to discover the spacious L-shaped living room where you can unwind on the sofa in the evening or on a sunny day, slide open the patio doors to reveal the balcony and take in the sweep of the fells around Ambleside and down to Lake Windermere. Try your hand at a spot of home-cooking by making use of the quality appliances within the sleek kitchen, including an electric oven and hob, fridge with freezer compartment and a dishwasher. Delight in the dish at the well-presented dining table, before you pop open a bottle of gin and toast to a magnificent holiday in the Lake District. Catch up on your rest in the master bedroom, complete with light colours, a fitted wardrobe and a king-size double bed, along with a en-suite bathroom so you can have your own privacy while getting prepared for the day. There is also a twin room which has use of the fully tiled family bathroom with bath and shower over. The centre of Ambleside is just a gentle stroll away and offers a wealth of shops, pubs, traditional inns and restaurants to take advantage of, plus an independent cinema which showcases the latest films and live music. For the avid walkers of the group there are plenty of beautiful walks in the area, with some particularly breathtaking routes towards Stock Ghyll Force, a 70 foot waterfall in a wooded area, as well as around the shores of Coniston Water which also offers some of the best mountain biking around. Slightly further afield you can access Hawkshead and Esthwaite Water, along with Bowness-on-Windermere, Windermere and Lakeside, each of which host their own attractions and atmosphere. Todd Crag is an idyllic getaway to one of the UK’s most desirable holiday destinations.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

Very comfortable beds 2. Modern bathrooms 3. Great TV functionality 4. Good WiFi 5. Cosy lounge with the use of the gas fire 6. Great views from the back of the house 7. Great location to Ambleside and Windermere with convenient buses Negatives: 1. No thermostat to increase either the water temperature or central heating. We hunted everywhere! As a consequence the water wasnât hot enough for a bath which sadly we were looking forward to as we only have a shower at home. 2. Frying pan doesnât work on the hobâ¦.needs an induction hob frying pan. This made cooking more difficult. Could also do with a couple of medium sized saucepans and dishes as well. 3. Very noisy doors into the two bedrooms and the door to the on suite bathroom. 4. It would have been good to have access to the balcony from the loungeâ¦..no keys. Overall we had a lovely time in the bungalow and were thoroughly spoiled by great weather. Thank you.

Only improvements would be to either provide hand soap and washing up liquid ( this is the only place weâve ever stayed that hasnât provided basics ) or make a list of basic equipment/condiments that visitors need to bring. Also, no recycle bins ( or orange bags as listed in the folder) so brought it all home with us! However itâs a great base for exploring the area.

Came back after 4.00 still no keys, came back again early evening still no keys, contacted the Customer Relations who managed to get Keys dropped off around 8.00pm. Got a Reference COR392909-CF advising George will respond to us, still waiting no contact at all. We usually get a welcome pack not there, only two bath towels for a 4 birth cottage. There was a smell in the on suite shower and found the trap immersed in dirt and hair the same as the main bathroom. Images can be supplied if required. We have stayed here on a number of occasions unfortunately this stay was not as good as usual.
