Pavement End Cottage is praised for its stunning location in Grasmere with beautiful views and proximity to local amenities. Guests appreciate the spaciousness, comfortable furnishings, and the sun room. While some minor issues are noted, the overall sentiment is positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
Cleanliness has received mixed feedback. Some guests reported the property was not properly cleaned, with specific mentions of old breadcrumbs, unwashed crockery, and dead flies. However, others did not raise cleanliness as an issue, suggesting inconsistencies in the cleaning service.
The location is highly praised for its spectacular views and proximity to both the village centre and natural attractions. It is considered ideal for walks and enjoying the Lake District, contributing to a tranquil and enjoyable experience.
The cottage is generally regarded as comfortable, with spacious rooms and cosy furnishings. Some guests found the bathrooms small, but this did not significantly detract from the overall comfort of their stay.
Facilities have been noted as adequate but with room for improvement. Issues such as broken showers, a lack of towels and soap, and chipped glasses were mentioned. The need for maintenance and updates has been suggested to enhance the overall quality of the facilities.
There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, therefore it is not possible to assess this category. As such, the score is set to null.
f you're looking for a Lakeland character property in a world-renowned location, at the heart of the Lakes and immersed in the landscapes that have inspired artists and poets for hundreds of years, then Pavement End Cottage will leave you enchanted. A detached superbly located cottage with breathtaking unforgettable views over Grasmere Water itself.
Inside the atmosphere is homely but indulgent; sumptuous fabrics and furnishings, those wonderful views from every single window, two living rooms, a conservatory, a very well equipped kitchen and ground floor cloakroom and then upstairs to the three en-suite bedrooms, all with magnificent views. The patio garden also boasts the lake views and all this only a few hundred yards from the heart of Grasmere village centre.
Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family have been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century and Grasmere Lake, plus Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.

.third visit. Looking forward to next time! Looking out from sun room is so joyful..although each day we were off walking all day. Great position with big walks from the doorstep. No problem to us, so no complaints but some people may not like some loose stones on patio at front. Also, duvet could do with replacing in small bedroom . It has old stains on it I noticed when stripping beds on changeover day. Thank you again. Carolyn.

It is a short walk into Grasmere and an even shorter walk to Faeryland who do the most wonderful teas and cake. There is plenty of room in this cottage for you all to have your own space. I loved how there were little instructions on labels around the house, much easier than plowing through lots of lists. Would love to come back as was perfect for us, but we will have a dog next year.
