Conn Cottage is situated in the attractive hamlet of Bampton, in the Lowther Valley. This is a tranquil, unspoilt and beautiful area of the Lake District. This amazing area is perfect for getting away from it all and for seeing wildlife like red squirrels, deer and buzzards. However, the location is still also convenient for accessing not only other parts of the Lake District, but also the Yorkshire Dales, Teesdale and Hadrian’s Wall. Bampton has a village store/post office with tearoom, children’s playground and there is a lovely pub a gentle stroll away in the neighbouring hamlet of Bampton Grange. There are other excellent pubs serving food a short drive away in Askham, Tirril and Shap, as well as the hotel at Haweswater.
The nearest lakes are Haweswater and Ullswater. The area is perfect for walking and cycling with its quiet scenic roads and there is plenty of good walking from the doorstep, including on the surrounding fells leading over to Ullswater. Popular fells such as Hallin Fell and Place Fell and Mardale Head are nearby. There are lots of nearby attractions and activities including cycle hire, horse riding, Dalemain House and gardens, Aira Force, Ullswater Steamers and other water sports. We thoroughly enjoyed our family weekend away in this cottage. The cottage was comfortable for a family of 6 with a dog. We would recommend staying here if you are looking for a peaceful getaway. It is a short drive away from surrounding towns and a lengthier drive to walks in the lakes.

Conn cottage is a cosy, warm and spacious cottage situated in a lovely, friendly village with walks on the doorstep and handy for getting to the mountains surrounding Ullswater and Haweswater. We enjoyed a pint in the fab local pub each evening after a long day walking and the hot tub was fantastic at soothing the aching joints! There was plenty of storage in the cottage for all our luggage and we slept soundly in the comfortable king-size bed listening to the water running in the brook each night. There was a lovely welcome pack on arrival which we were very grateful for, (although we could have benefited from some milk and kitchen roll😁). The only thing we found missing that would have been useful were instructions for the microwave and coffee machine and a pair of kitchen scissors. Everything else was thought of and provided. We were sad to leave and definitely would love to stay again and enjoy all the walks in the mountains that we weren't able to fit in during our stay. Charles is a good host, very helpful if you need anything.

wanted a quiet getaway for the weekend after our wedding day and it was exactly that! gorgeous surroundings with plenty of walks for the day to take the dog on to then come home and relax in the hot tub or by the fire.
