Escape to this historic stone cottage with your nearest and dearest, exploring endless walking, biking and outdoor adventure opportunities in the Lake District (2 miles), Yorkshire Dales (2 miles) and the North Pennines National Landscape (14 miles). Surrounded by a wide array of breathtaking countryside scenes, you’ll never fall short of activities to fill each day with when staying in this Cumbrian destination. At home, the property is a light-filled stone cottage that’s been modernised with skill and care to create a contemporary-styled place for five guests to unwind. Rest and recharge ahead of adventures aplenty, enjoying the comfortable interiors and the pretty garden that’s just outside.
The Grade-II listed property offers well-maintained features including original beams, low doorways and restored wooden floors. The decor has been kept light and bright in contrast to this, creating an attractive place to stay overall. The open-plan lounge is spacious with soft seating, a wood burner and a Smart TV – the place to retire to after meals prepared in the kitchen and enjoyed at the dining table. As you move up to the first floor, discover storage for two bikes neatly tucked away beneath the stairs. All three bedrooms, one super-king-size, one king-size and one single, are upstairs, accompanied by two bathrooms. Outside, the garden is a peaceful retreat with pretty flowers and a thrilling well feature.
On the banks of the River Lowther, the English Heritage-maintained Shap Abbey (1.5 miles) is a scenic spot to walk to with aged ruins to admire. Shap itself sits on the famed northern walking route of the Coast to Coast route, allowing you to follow a portion of the waymarked route all the way to Kirkby Stephen (18 miles) and onwards if you prefer. This town is a chocolate box highlight in the Eden Valley, well worth exploring whether you’re walking, biking or driving to get there.
