Situated in the small, rural village of Great Strickland in the Eden Valley, just 2 miles from the Lake District National Park and 6 miles from Ullswater. It benefits from easy access to the M6, and there are peaceful country lanes for cycling and walking on the Lakeland Fells or Pennine Hills. There is a village pub serving food, 100 yards from the house, with excellent amenities in Penrith just 5 miles.

Had a wonderful week, the lodge is very clean, spacious and comfortable. Yes, you can smell the cows on the front door side but not as much when we sat out front. Beds were comfy, shower was lush 😀 there’s a coop and fish and chip shop about 3 miles down the road in Shap and Morrisons ect about 5 miles the other way in Penrith. This is the first place I’ve stayed that didn’t have a guest book or “instruction” folder. I’ve always found these helpful. Guests let you know what’s good nearby - pubs, places to see, value for money ect. Info/instruction folder can have the instructions for machinery, the heating, induction hob ect, nearest shops, vets, doctors ect ect - I just find that kinda stuff handy xxWe also felt -we managed - but couldn’t find the BBQ, sure it was on the list of items? Felt a few things missing:- potato masher, oven gloves, bowl for fruit (not a must) bigger pans(we were using 2 some nights for 1 item) apart from those, you had everything you needed. We will be back for sure

Great weekend break the lodge is lovely, quiet location, only a short drive to Penrith and Pooley Bridge. Marked down for local amenities as there is nothing in the village as the pub had closed down.

Lovely stunning large lodge with easy access to Lake District It is located at front of holiday park entrance at side of a farm so can have some farm smells but we don’t mind that part of the country life! Will definitely return
