Cars are banned from the village, leaving visitors free to wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. With stunning scenery and numerous attractions within easy touring distance, Hawkshead is in an ideal location at any time of the year.

My only issue is that it is very difficult to get in touch with Sykes Cottages - email response is lengthy, the messaging service via the app is inefficient, taking several days to respond to my query and itâs almost impossible to get through to speak to a staff member on the phone. Communications need to be improved

On arrival we loved everything about the accommodation, its very spacious and clean and so much better than the pictures, the beds are so comfy and house has everything you could need or want. The wifi is sketchy but works in the main areas, bedrooms not so much as the wifi drops off alot but its no biggie. The only big issue we had was noise, as the accommadation is downstairs so you hear the noise from upstairs. The first night we heard nothing and when new guests arrived upstairs we had to go up every night and ask them to stop the kids running around and ask if they could keep the noise down, this was after 11pm each night. We have kids so we understand but there has to be some consideration for others. Overall its a great house, location and facilites. Would recommend.

We had a small issue with hot water but it was sorted incredibly quickly and so subtly that it didnât affect our holiday at all. We all had the best time. Thank you!
