The absence of a welcome pack is mentioned, but overall, the cottage provides a cosy and homely experience.

Most guests found Greenstyles to be spotlessly clean and well-presented, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, a few guests mentioned that cleanliness could be improved, which slightly impacts the overall high standard noted by others.

Guests consistently report that the cottage is cosy, with comfortable beds and sofas, and a homely atmosphere. The spacious garden and conservatory add to the comfort, although the absence of a smart TV was noted by a few.

The property is well-equipped with a great kitchen and outdoor space. However, some guests noted the lack of a smart TV, streaming services, and welcome pack. There were also comments about the smell in the utility area and minor maintenance issues.

While guests appreciated the overall experience at Greenstyles, there is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

About this property

Nestled just on the outskirts of Bowness (yet set in rolling fields and fells), Greenstyles is a picture-perfect traditional Lakeland cottage full of charm, with great views of the fells and glimpses of Lake Windermere.

As you step into the cottage through the solid wooden front door, there’s a spacious hallway, with sitting room to the right and the light and bright kitchen/dining room to the left. The well-equipped kitchen with top quality appliances has everything you need to cook up that hearty breakfast or celebration meal. Walk through the arch into the dining room where you can all gather and relax, socialise and celebrate. Light streams in through a wall of fell-view windows, where a glazed stable style door takes you to the outside space, ideal for mid-summer meals alfresco. Across the hall is the sitting room with feature rustic beams and a wood burning stove. Relax in the comfy sofas or window seats watching TV or reading. Glazed double doors lead from here through into the garden room, with access to the large, mature garden. A choice of sofas awaits you, perfect for afternoon tea or indeed just relaxing and reading the paper. Windows on three sides provide views of the surrounding fields and fells. On the ground floor is a good-sized utility room with washing machine and drier, iron and ironing board, and heated towel rail to enable you to dry any wet coats. Upstairs are 3 pretty cottage bedrooms: super king size, King size (can be made into twins if needed) and single, all with views. These rooms are complemented by a large, smart family bathroom with fabulous uninterrupted views of the lake and the fells, a double walk-in shower, vanity unit with twin basins and WC. To the rear of the cottage is the fabulous, large garden with an extensive lawned area, mature trees and bushes; great for exploring and enjoying the views. An area with garden furniture is a great place to have breakfast in the morning on a sunny day or indeed in the evening. A must for those clear days not to mention a glass or two in the evening gazing at the stars.

Loved the decor and special little touches! It was perfect for a 'home away for home' stay- we visited Fell Foot- beautiful walk by the lake, as wall as Coniston, Bowness on Windermere for shopping and Windermere for some local art, Jeff Sudders really captures the calm ambience so beautifully of the area. Having visited the Lake District many times with my family as a child, it was lovely to return after a 40 year hiatus with my own family- lovely memories of a very special place.

The interior is pleasantly decorated, the side conservatory overlooking the garden is lovely and the beds were very comfortable. The garden has plenty of furniture in various locations and overlooks Windermere and we had a clear view of a Lancaster flying up the lake on one day as well as several jets over the week. As other have said, the cleaner was still there at 16:30 when we first arrived, not a major issue as the cottage was presented in clean and tidy state. Unfortunately I inadvertently left a fleece at the property but the owners made every effort to return it to me and wouldn't accept any payment for post and packaging, much appreciated.
