Deer Thwaite is a well-equipped and comfortable cottage in Windermere, praised for its spaciousness, quiet location, and beautiful garden area. Guests appreciate the warm atmosphere and the convenience for exploring the Lakes. Despite some maintenance issues and cleanliness concerns, the property remains a favoured choice for its charm and amenities.
Guests have noted that while the property is cleaned, it lacks a deep clean with mentions of cobwebs, dust, and an unclean oven door. However, these issues did not significantly detract from the overall experience.
The location is highly regarded for its quietness, easy access to nearby towns and walks, and proximity to Lake Windermere, making it an ideal base for exploring the Lake District.
The cottage is consistently described as comfortable, with comfortable beds, a warm atmosphere, and well-equipped living spaces. However, some guests experienced issues with heating which affects the score slightly.
Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and new bathrooms. However, there are several reports of maintenance issues such as problems with the boiler, dishwasher, and TV, which suggest room for improvement.
There is no mention of gifts or extra thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category.

This property was a pleasant surprise. Five of us were staying at the property for a week, and we all commented on how spacious Deer Thwaite is. When returning at the end of the day, everyone could spread out and relax, and the bonus was having the outside area/lawn. It is a shared area, but was never crowded (at least when we were staying there) and is a big bonus with teenagers! The facilities were plentiful (our only small suggestion is possibly to have a couple more towels in the bathrooms for those with long hair after a shower, and the long mirrors would be easier to use if located on the walls instead of inside the wardrobe doors, but these are very minor suggestions). Fingers crossed we'll be able to visit again, and we'd highly recommend to anyone to book this property.

Brown towels were very heavy with a harsh fringe. We have been many times to Deer Thwaite, excellent upgrades on the bathrooms/showers. No potato peeler!! Apart from these relatively minor points, an excellent holiday venue.
