High Biggin is a spacious and comfortable cottage with stunning views of Lake Windermere, ideal for large gatherings. Despite some ongoing redecoration and minor maintenance issues, guests have enjoyed the ample private parking, large kitchen, and the bonus of a hot tub. The property's peaceful location is within walking distance to the town, providing both tranquility and convenience.

Guests have noted some cleanliness issues, including the need to clean crockery and cutlery upon arrival, and the presence of cobwebs and dust. However, these seem to be isolated incidents rather than a general trend.

The property boasts a peaceful setting with beautiful lake views and is conveniently located within walking distance to Windermere town, making it an ideal location for guests.

The cottage is praised for its spaciousness and comfortable beds. Some guests mentioned draughts during a storm and the need for more seating, but overall the property provides a comfortable stay.

Facilities like the hot tub are appreciated, but guests have reported issues such as missing light bulbs, a non-working extractor fan, and a lack of kitchen equipment. The absence of a BBQ and games, despite being advertised, has also been noted.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

What a wonderfully spacious and comfortable property! The views from nearly every room are spectacular.Don’t let the slightly shabby exterior put you off as the interior is well maintained and well furnished. The master bedroom is massive with a dressing room attached. In the en suite bathroom there is a jacuzzi bath which was very popular! The other bedrooms were also comfortable and warm.Downstairs the rooms were tastefully furnished, one having an open fire which was cosy on cold nights. The other living area was a bright room attached to the kitchen which could seat about 5 people comfortably. The kitchen itself was light and bright and very spacious. It was reasonably well resourced although we did find some shortages of certain things e.g. there was no cheese grater. However there was plenty of storage space. Unfortunately the oven wasn’t at all clean but rather very greasy and sticky. There was an Aga as an alternative but none of us were really “au fait” with Aga cooking! The tea towels had seen better days and there was only one black bin liner which was a bit annoying. The dining room has a very large dining table which will seat 8 easily and again this room was comfortable and well furnished. The hot tub outside was a big hit and worked perfectly. We were rather spooked by the cctv though. One disappointing thing was that the property had been described as easily walkable to Bowness. It is walkable, taking about 12 minutes but the road you walk on is by no means safe, much of it having no pavement. It’s definitely not an option at night or with young children. However, all in all it was a grand stay and we would definitely return.

High Biggin was the perfect house to celebrate 2 6Oth birthdays with friends. Although it looked a little tired in places which we were aware of decorating going on, we still had a lovely weekend.House very big so more than enough room for 4 couples. Bedrooms and bathrooms very spacious. Beds very comfortable. Hot tub was a bonus. Ample private parking for 4 cars. Very large serviceable kitchen and pantry with more than enough fridge and freezer space. Although quite drafty in places due to storm Amy we still managed to keep warm especially with the log fire. Lots of seating in the lounge area. Very peaceful location with views to the lake from most of the rooms and only short walk into the town. Only minor few niggles were light bulbs not checked to see if they were working as they weren’t in a few rooms. Extractor fan not working in one bathroom. Drawers not checked as was socks in there from previous guests in one room. No batteries in tv remote in master bedroom so pinched from one of the lounge tvs. Like I said only minor and definitely didn’t spoil our wonderful weekend. Would definitely stay again.
