Warner Lea is a spacious and charming cottage in an excellent location, just a short walk from Bowness and Windermere. Guests consistently praise its convenience, homely feel, and comfortable bedrooms, making it ideal for families and groups. While the property offers good value and a well-equipped kitchen, some areas would benefit from extra care, particularly regarding cleanliness and maintenance. The parking can be tight, and a few guests noted issues with the boiler and shower. Overall, it provides a relaxing base for exploring the Lake District, with its location being a standout feature.
Several guests found the property clean on arrival, but there were repeated mentions of dirty utensils, stained bedding, dusty skirting boards, and neglected outdoor areas. Some also noted the need for a deeper clean between stays.
The location is highly praised, with guests loving the easy walk to Bowness, proximity to shops, restaurants, and the lake, as well as convenient access to local attractions. Parking is available but can be tight.
Guests found the cottage cosy and the bedrooms spacious and comfortable, with good beds in most rooms. However, some mentioned issues with mattresses, cold temperatures, and noise from the boiler affecting sleep.
The cottage is well-equipped and spacious, but several guests experienced problems with the boiler, shower, dishwasher, and heating. Some kitchen items were worn or dirty, and minor repairs were suggested.
A basic welcome pack of tea, coffee, and sugar is provided, but guests noted the absence of milk or other thoughtful touches. While some properties offer gifts, these are not guaranteed at Warner Lea.

It was very centrally placed to get to places.Parking was very tight on the drive and difficult to manoeuvre due to a parked car over the road but we managed it with care. The outside space is a bit neglected at the back with large weeds growing. The base of the shower felt like it lacked support so we tended to use the shower over the bath,in addition the oven was very poor at heating up.However, there was everything we needed and it was clean.

This is a good place to stay that could be great with a bit more care and attention to detail. Heart sank on arrival at sight of weeds growing from the front doorstep, repeated at the back with a shabby outdoor area. Odd pieces of chipped crockery, the first two knives I took from the block were dirty and needed washing, no sign on instructions for cooker hood which I eventually worked out but found the hood extremely greasy to touch and had clearly not been properly cleaned for some time. The welcome pack was underwhelming and could have done with a pint of milk and loaf of bread. I don't see the point of having a visitors book and ignoring the entries. The previous occupants had highlighted the fact that the shower was scalding hot and couldn't be regulated and this was still the case. Thankfully the Management Company were superb and reacted quickly to fix it. The location makes it a superb base and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. It has so much going for it but first impressions let it down. Food at The Albert was excellent. First two TV handsets tried didn't work -- new batteries wouldn't go amiss. This place really could be great with a little effort

Brilliant location for both Bownes and Windermere, and just off the main road to take you on adventures further afield. Great sized property for our group of 6 (4 adults & 2 children), with 1 big family bathroom and a separate additional toilet Kitchen well equipped, though smaller size 'cereal' bowls would have been useful, current offering is more pasta dish size! The negatives: The place needs a good clean. Floors had been hoovered as per expected for quick changeovers, but the dust was thick along skirting boards and on travel cots, bathroom etc. The mattres in one of the large bedrooms was beyond use, so sunken and bedding was stained. We had to sleep on top of the duvet (using towels to keep warm). My son slept in one of the twin beds and came away from the weekend with bites all over his legs. Parking was a challenge with 2 cars, though grateful for a property with parking in such a busy tourist town.
