You won't have to settle for anything less than luxury when you stay at The Old Chequers. This former village pub in South Creake has been welcoming guests for centuries and is now a fantastic holiday home sleeping up to 14 people for a self-catering holiday in North Norfolk. Six ensuite bedrooms, an extremely well-equipped kitchen for self-catering, and a garden with a stream and a hot tub make it a favourite for guests of all ages. We've recently renovated and added a brand new games room with a pool table, flat-screen TVs and arcade games. The location is also ideal, close to Burnham, Fakenham, Holkham, and Wells-next-the-Sea. 

The Old Chequers is an impressive, pet-friendly holiday home sleeping up to 14 people in six bedrooms with various living spaces, a games room, an outdoor hot tub and a river flowing through the private garden. It's an excellent choice for self-catering holidays with extended family and friends in North Norfolk. There is also tennis and a children's play area nearby. 

The owners know the first thing you want to do when you arrive is drop your bags and grab a drink, which is why they provide a welcome hamper complete with goodies that include coffee, tea, milk, cookies, and a bottle of wine. It feels like a private hotel all to yourself with added self-catering facilities. The kitchen is fully equipped with a large freestanding oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, Nespresso coffee machine, KitchedAid, milk frother, kettle and toaster. There is an extra fridge, washing machine and dryer in the utility room.

The various entertainment spaces have been cleverly divided to cater for all staying in the house. You could either sit next to the cosy log burner in the lounge or enjoy a movie on the large corner sofa in the TV room with a surround sound system. The sunroom overlooks the garden and is a great place to watch the kids play on the lawn by the stream. For those who need to work while on their trip, we have a dedicated workspace set up. Our newly added games room provides an excellent entertainment space where guests can enjoy a game of pool while watching sports on TV or relax with some music while enjoying the view of the garden.

Guests who stay at The Old Chequers love that they can laze around the house, enjoy relaxed barbecues or picnics by the stream (or on the deck) in the garden and soak their stress away in the outdoor hot tub. The pebbled courtyard has been thoughtfully furnished to add an additional social space. It is a cosy corner to tuck away into at night time under the fairy-light-lit skyline, with a dining table to enjoy alfresco dining and a seated fire pit area to keep warm on the chillier evenings. 

All bedrooms have their own en suite bathroom, Bluetooth speaker, wardrobe and exceptional quality mattresses. You'll find a cosy bathrobe in your bedroom and all the little extras that elevate a holiday rental to the next level. The spacious master bedroom has a private dressing room and full en suite featuring a walk-in shower, large freestanding tub and underfloor heating. We have a wheelchair-accessible bedroom on the ground floor, with a walk-in shower and direct access to the driveway. 

South Creake is a friendly community in a great location with excellent access to the coast, countryside and popular attractions. To give you an idea of how central the house is, you're six miles from Burnham Market and Fakenham, eight miles from Holkham Beach and Wells-next-the-Sea, 15 miles from Hunstanton, 23 miles from Sheringham, and around an hour's drive from Norwich. You can choose from dozens of beaches, go walking along the coast or through the countryside, and eat, drink, and shop around historic market towns and picturesque villages. Local attractions include Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall, bewilderwood, Norfolk Lavender, and Sandringham Royal Estate. You can visit the ancient ruins of Creake Abbey, have fun at an Escape Room and an axe-throwing range, admire the birds and the beauty of Sculthorpe Moor Nature Reserve and Blakeney Point, and take a journey on the Poppy Line of the North Norfolk Railway.

Ground Floor:

Large entrance hallway with a black and white tiled floor and a circular dining table where you can enjoy board games or lunch.

Substantial living room with flagstone floors, ample seating and a huge wall-mounted smart TV with BT Sports, Sky Sports, Netflix and Amazon channels. 

Secondary living area with a log burner, including fireguards. Two bags of logs are provided, with more available to purchase.

A sunroom conservatory extension increases the space and lets in natural light, providing even more room for socialising and enjoying views of the garden.

Gorgeous dining room with oak beams, a window seat and a solid wood table seating 12 with room for a highchair.

Modern kitchen fully equipped with all mod cons, including a large oven, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee maker, KitchenAid and wine fridge.

The utility room has laundry facilities, cleaning equipment, two fridge/freezers and an additional dishwasher. There is lots of space to store your groceries and keep everything fresh.

A dedicated games room, featuring a stunning pool table and an arcade game console, offers another space where guests can enjoy watching TV or engage in friendly competitions to create memorable moments with friends and family. 

Sixth Bedroom on the ground floor, designed to accommodate guests who use a wheelchair. It has a super-king bed, which can be made up as two 3ft-wide single beds upon request, and an accessible en suite with a wet room shower.

First Floor:

Luxurious Master Bedroom suite, which features a dressing room and views over the garden and the stream. A super-king size bed, dressing table, wardrobe and an en suite with underfloor heating, a walk-in shower and a large freestanding tub, combine to create a wonderfully indulgent space.

The Ante Room by the master has a TV and sofa bed, providing additional sleeping options for kids.

The Second Bedroom has a super-king bed (which can be made up as twin single beds) and space for a travel cot or an air mattress for younger children. There is a bath and a shower in the en suite.

The Third Bedroom has a king-sized bed, beautiful mango wood furniture and an en suite with a shower.

The Fourth Bedroom faces West, so it is great for guests who like to sleep late and enjoy the afternoon sun. There is a king-sized bed and an en suite with a shower over the bath.

The Fifth Bedroom is furnished with a king-sized bed and has an en suite with a shower.

Outside: You'll spend happy hours in the garden where clever lighting makes it a useable space to socialise well into the evening. A barbecue, hot tub, deck with outdoor furniture and lots of room to play on the lawn make it ideal for all ages. The courtyard has seating, a fire pit and fairy lights. You can fit 2 cars in the driveway easily; up to 4 if you squeeze it. You can additionally park on Front Street, right next to the house.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are included. A welcome hamper and two baskets of logs are provided. Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. Smoking is not allowed. Travel cots are available on request.
