St Margarets Cottage in King's Lynn receives high praise for its charming decor, central yet peaceful location, and comfortable beds. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, thoughtful touches, and attentive host. The cottage is ideal for exploring the town, with restaurants and shops nearby. While most found the property spotless, a few noted minor maintenance or cleaning issues, and some mentioned the lack of parking and skylight blinds. Overall, guests enjoyed a relaxing and homely stay, with many keen to return.
Most guests found the cottage spotlessly clean and well-presented, with fresh towels and linens. A small number mentioned minor cleaning issues in the kitchen and bathroom, but these were exceptions rather than the norm.
The location is frequently described as excellent, central, and peaceful, with easy access to the town centre, river, shops, and restaurants. The only minor drawback is the lack of on-site parking, though nearby options are convenient.
Guests consistently highlight the super comfortable beds, cosy atmosphere, and relaxing environment. The cottage is warm and well-insulated, contributing to a restful stay.
The cottage is well-equipped with modern amenities, quality furnishings, and thoughtful extras. Some guests noted minor maintenance issues, such as a flooding shower and lack of blinds on skylights, but overall facilities are highly rated.
Many guests mention thoughtful touches such as welcome treats, basic food supplies, and gifts for children. While these gestures are appreciated, it should be noted that such extras are not guaranteed for every stay.
Restored and modernised with absolute care by the owners, this property is sure to delight. And the location is amazing too!.

No smoking.. You are going to find it very hard not to fall in love with St Margarets Cottage. Curated and restored with respect for this building’s heritage while creating a contemporary high-end feel, this property has heaps of charm and character, and could not be better placed for exploring all that the historical Hanseatic Quarter of King’s Lynn has to offer. Large glass doors at the rear of the property open on to a tiny walled courtyard, bringing light in to the open-plan living space on the ground floor, while at the front original sash windows have been painstakingly restored. A small kitchenette, a stylish dining area and a gorgeous living room welcome you when you enter the cottage, and the ground floor also features a contemporary shower room.
An exposed, original lime wall that leads up the stairs also contains its original beam, which has been restored to preserve the character of the bricks. Look carefully as you climb the steps and you will see that very old gravestones were used within this wall, and you will also notice where the fire that destroyed part of this building in the 1700’s reached, leaving the bricks fire-kissed in its wake.
The owners have really loved this building, and this carries through to the first floor where there is a small double room and a more spacious master room, with a king sized bed and a galleried level with an additional sofa bed. The beds are all fantastic quality and feature touches such as hand-made mattresses and Egyptian cotton bed linen to ensure total comfort. But along with the care they have taken to reference the heritage of this property, no expense has been spared to make sure that there are modern conveniences throughout, including TVs in the bedrooms, Alexa controlled in-built ceiling speakers and efficient underfloor and central heating. It is really clear that the owners want you to adore this cottage as much as they have and it is absolutely doubtless that you will.
If you can tear yourself away, history lies in every direction as soon as you step out the door. The huge Benedictine Priory and parish church opposite the cottage was founded by Herbert de Losinga, first Bishop of Norwich, in 1101. The church itself contains some Norman work, but was rebuilt in the 13th century and is a must visit. In fact, the cottage directly opposite housed the church’s very own exorcist, and you can still find a carving on the former inn a few doors away that shows the devil chasing some poor soul through the streets of Old King’s Lynn. That inn was the very place that Nelson stayed while in training too. Of course there are some great places to eat, drink and shop within footsteps too, and just a short drive away lies Castle Acre, the Houghton, Holkham and Sandringham Estates, and Peckover House. For a change of scenery, you can be on the stunning Norfolk coastline in under half an hour too. Just perfect. You will be back!

We had a lovely stay in this gorgeous Cottage in King's Lynn. The host Salman was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The cottage was spotlessly clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The location was perfect - ideal for exploring King's Lynn. The small downside was that the sky lights didn't have blinds, so quite a lot of light came through early in the morning which made it difficult to sleep in. Aside from that, everything was Excellent and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
