Once visited by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother during the town’s Silver Jubilee celebrations, the property offers a truly unique glimpse into the past. Despite its proud heritage, the street it sits on was once at risk of demolition to make way for wider roads and car parks, a fate it thankfully escaped.

Step inside, and you’re immediately welcomed by a striking timber-beamed interior that beautifully showcases the building’s historic charm. The generous lounge provides a perfect space to unwind, while the separate reading room doubles as a quiet retreat for reading, crafts, or work, complete with an office desk and a cosy armchair nestled beside a dual-sided wood-burning stove. The kitchen/dining room offers a comfortable space for enjoying meals at home. However, if dining out is preferred, you’ll find a wide selection of cafes, pubs, and restaurants just a short stroll away.

Light and airy, the garden room features doors opening into an enclosed courtyard garden, creating an inviting spot to enjoy morning coffee or evening drinks. Thoughtfully modernised throughout, the home blends historic character with modern-day comforts, ensuring a truly relaxing and comfortable retreat. Upstairs, the master bedroom is spacious and elegant, complete with a seating area and contemporary en-suite shower room. At the other end of the house, the charming single bedroom features a vaulted ceiling and its own en-suite, offering a cosy and private space.

The location is truly magical, right in the heart of King’s Lynn’s historic quarter. Step outside and you’re just moments from museums, theatres, shops, and a variety of eateries to suit all tastes and budgets. The mainline train station is also just a 10-minute walk, offering convenient access to nearby destinations. A short drive brings you to the stunning North Norfolk coastline, famous for its wide sandy beaches, traditional seaside towns, amusements, and protected nature reserves.

Beyond the historic attractions, King’s Lynn offers vibrant entertainment and leisure. Enjoy tree-lined parks dating back to the 18th century, catch a show at the Corn Exchange, or browse the Vancouver Quarter’s mix of high street and independent shops. Markets are held on Tuesdays and Saturdays, selling fresh local produce, clothing, and crafts. Nearby, you can visit the Sandringham Estate, the Royal Family’s countryside retreat, or spend time birdwatching at the rspb Snettisham Reserve and Ken Hill Nature Reserve, both just 25 minutes away. Golfers will also find plenty of challenging courses in the area.

Please note: The first-floor features steep stairs and low beams, in keeping with the building’s historic character.

This property is full of character both inside and out, with many of the original features of this lovely old building still in tact. It has surprisingly high ceilings which I, at 6'5", was pleased to discover (only the doors posed a slight problem but that is always the case). The stairs took a bit of care, but that was expected from the description and after a few ascents and descents we managed to work out the best way to negotiate them with no problem. There was only one slight problem which Ben, who looks after the building, was quick to address, so no complaint there. It is within walking distance of plenty of interesting parts of Kings Lynn, including restaurants and pubs and it has it's own parking space close to the cottage fpr any excursions further away. However, if you have a car with a soft top, be sure to put on your tonneau when parking in the space, as it is shaded by a beautiful sycamore tree in which many birds perch.

A very well appointed cottage but in dire need of renovation, looking very tired in a lot of areas. Garden needs urgent attention and repairs to the render all round the fire place. Recommended that the front loung and tv room be swapped to make better use of the space, more comfortable chairs to the tv room needed.

From the moment you step through the door, you genuinely feel as though you’ve stepped back in time. The history of the place wraps around you straight away, and it creates such a unique and charming atmosphere. It was lovely and warm when we arrived, and the tea, coffee, milk, and biscuits left out for us were a very welcome touch after our journey. If you’re looking for all the essentials for a comfortable holiday, this property really does have everything you need. The kitchen is well equipped, though a couple of extra pots would be a useful addition. We especially appreciated having a dishwasher, washing machine, and tumble dryer — it made things so much easier. We couldn’t find a clothes horse for drying, but it wasn’t a big issue for us.The stairs at the top could be tricky for some people, but this was clearly mentioned in the description, so we were fully prepared. Our daughter did find the mattress in the small room a bit uncomfortable, but we managed a simple workaround for the three nights we stayed.Overall, it’s a brilliant place to stay and a great base for exploring the area. The town itself is fascinating, with a lovely mix of old and new buildings, plus plenty of interesting shops and independent stores rather than just the usual chains. We would 100% recommend staying here
