Our family of 4 stayed over Christmas & unfortunately found many issues but I will start off with the positives first. The property is in a great location and is very spacious with an open plan well laid out & well equipped kitchen area with a double oven & a large TV in the lounge. There is a small enclosed garden which our little dog enjoyed & the property was very well decorated for Christmas with a tree & other decorations. The negatives: There was no dishcloth or surface spray (we had to go out on Christmas Eve to buy) in the kitchen. The back of the sink & drainer were filthy as was the kitchen bin. Quite a lot of crockery/cutlery were dirty and the frying pans were thick with grease. There were only 2 dessert spoons & 6 dinner plates (3 of which were chipped). There were no oven trays (only a grill pan & round pizza tray). Thankfully we brought our own foil roasting dish & trays. The compost bin on the kitchen worktop had the last guest's mouldy fruit/veg in it. We were disappointed that the tablecloth shown on website (red fabric) was not available, just a plastic light green printed one which is okay if you are on holiday but not ideal for a Christmas Day meal. There are 8 glass ceiling light shades in the lounge which are thick with dust which was very noticeable when lit. The sofa covers which are removable need a good wash as do the cushion covers. There were a lot of crumbs/food debris under the sofa cushions. This was only seen as we were trying to plump up seat pads as we found the sofa to be really uncomfortable. There was no key for the utility door (it was the same key as the main door) but due to the length of the property it is quite a way from the main door thus being a risk in the event of a fire. We decided to place the key on the hallway table which is in front of the of the 2 main bedroom doors & halfway between the 2 exit doors. Also, the bedrooms do not have smoke alarms which I believe is now a legal requirement in holiday accommodation. The bedroom with the ensuite bathroom: there was nowhere in the shower to place shampoo etc. The sealant & grouting in the showers were mouldy/black & definitely needs replacing. The flooring grout is thick with grime & needs a good clean as does the light above the shower cubicle which is full of dead insects etc.The heating wasn't great in some parts of the property. There was no information anywhere about how to operate or any timings etc for scheduled heating. We did text message the owner about this on the first evening & her son came round straightaway. He told us that the heating does take a while to come through. We did find the lounge/kitchen area was always warm but from the kitchen door down to the first double bedroom, the heating was not working at all & was cold. The single bedroom was very cold but thankfully we did not need to use this for sleeping. Finally, we did not find the welcome pack very festive. We have stayed in many cottages at Christmas & this was the most basic we have ever received. It is a great shame really, as the property itself is lovely & if these issues are addressed & the cleaning regime improved, the property has the potential to be fantastic. Unfortunately on this occasion though for us as a family celebrating Christmas, it just didn't quite reach the mark.

The Cattle Sheds was an excellent holiday cottage. The main room is stunning and much larger than it looks in the photographs. It is equipped really well and only a few miles from the sea at Mundersley.
