Packed with character, exposed beams and vaulted ceilings, La Retraite has been designed for open-plan living. You enter the property via the rear door into the hallway, and to the left you walk into a large and sunny kitchen area. Well-equipped, with two electric ovens and an induction hob, a wine fridge and Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine, this is the dream kitchen for the foodies amongst you. The kitchen flows on to the dining room and sitting room areas with a central, double-sided wood burning stove dividing the two, surrounded by vibrant art work, sculptures and figurines. There's a huge Smart television to pull the group together if you fancy watching a film or a big sporting game, but only if you can tear yourself away from the north-facing sunny garden. Fully enclosed - perfect to keep children and your four-legged friends playing safely - it is staged for relaxation and escapism with a hot tub, Firebloom wood burning stove, sun loungers for everyone and a table for al fresco dining seating fourteen. The ground floor has three bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and en-suite shower and the others both with 3ft twin beds which share the family bathroom with a bath and shower over. As you ascend one of the staircases to the first floor mezzanine level of the barn, you arrive at the master suite bedroom area where you are greeted by a stylish seating area on the landing before heading on to the king-size bedroom with a slipper bath, shower concealed behind a wall and a separate loo. At the other end of the barn, with its own staircase to the mezzanine level, is bedroom two, also with a king-size bed and an en-suite shower.
This fabulous hideaway is an excellent base for exploring North Norfolk. Located on the edge of the Wolterton Estate, there are woodland trails on your doorstep for your morning stroll with the hounds, and Aylsham and Holt, two of Norfolk's prettiest market towns, bursting with charm and character, independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants are minutes away in the car, and a little further afield is a choice of stunning, sandy beaches the whole way along the North Norfolk coast. There is so much to discover in this area of Norfolk, if, and only if, you can bear to leave the sun loungers!
