Spent a week here and couldn't be happier. Arriving on a ridiculously hot day and seeing the blinds were down we knew it would be hot inside, however the layout of the house, the windows and folding patio doors, the shade out front from the trees across the road and the more than capable fans cool it quickly. Parking is ample and being at the rear of the house made it easy to pop all of our beach gear and the dog into the garden straight from the car and have just one of us unlock everything rather than have the risk of sand or whatever be walked through the house. Speaking of the dog it's instantly clear that its a dog lovers house, the decor, the pic of those gorgeous pugs, even the themed salt and pepper pots and that's before even getting to those lovely big dog beds! There was just the two of us plus the dog but you could comfortably book to use all of the bedrooms and still not feel like you are tripping over each other, just be mindful of the top floor bedroom ceiling and the height of the ceiling on that last step from top to middle floor. Also had a good few grins at countless passing holiday makers that all seemed to stop to admire the lavender out front and who can blame them! The location is perfect whether you are hiring a boat or not. Being a short walk (over a busy road) to the large Tesco in Stalham and within half an hour drive to pretty much anything you can think of from seal beaches to historical walks, more touristy spots to more inland dog friend pubs and restaurants you're completely covered. We've stayed in the area previously but still found plenty of new spots to check out all of the guidebook recommendations are well worth it but the Pleasure Boat Inn at Hickling is especially worth the short drive. If your dog can be a bit reactive get there for kitchen opening (we had 2 meals there arriving at 5pm each time) and took full advantage of that lovely outdoor space out back, and being able to take advantage of having food brought to the table after ordering at the bar.

We very much enjoyed our week in this beautiful cottage at Stalham Staithe. Such a peaceful and attractive location, and within walking distance of the pub with great beer (and we were lucky enough to be there with the beer festival too!)The cottage was very comfortable with all the amenities, and no annoying little signs about keeping dogs downstairs and off the furniture. Dog towels were provided, as well as an emergency dog wee kit, if needed (luckily our dog managed to keep his legs crossed!). Plenty of bathrooms, comfy bed, all the comforts we needed. A perfect holiday which we’re hoping to book again next year.
