You can join the Wherrymans Way footpath just up the road on Langley Dyke passing the restored Hardley Mill on the River Yare and onto Hardley Staithe . Marsh Harriers,Kestrels and Barn Owls can be spotted soaring over the marshes.
Loddon village ,the Gateway to the Southern Broads is a 7 min, 2 mile drive away , where you can find a picturesque riverbank ,boating opportunities ,historic buildings ,a supermarket , and a selection of cafes, pubs , takeaways and shops , and a library.
The popular market towns of Beccles and Bungay are within easy reach in the scenic Waveney Valley . The historic city of Norwich is only a 20min drive away with its culture , castle, cathedral and bustling shopping lanes and a vast range of cafes and restaurants .
For a change of scenery, there are sandy beaches and traditional seaside towns such as Southwold and Walberswick on the Suffolk coast within easy reach , and in Norfolk ; Winterton -on- Sea , Cromer , and further afield Blakeney and Holkham on the North Norfolk coast among many others .
There are many local Nature Reserves in this area of the South Yare Valley or you can take the ferry over the River Yare to Reedham, just up the road , and visit one of the many Nature Reserves of the Norfolk Wildlife Trust .
