Guests say

Low Shipley Mill is a well-received cottage in the Yorkshire Dales, praised for its cleanliness, stunning location, and comfortable amenities. Guests have enjoyed the luxurious touches, including a hot tub with beautiful views, though some noted minor issues with maintenance and facilities. The property's thoughtful welcome hamper was appreciated, adding to the charm of this countryside retreat.

The property is consistently described as clean and immaculate, with several reviews highlighting its spotlessness. One review mentioned a few damp patches, but this seems to be an isolated comment within the context of overall positive feedback.

The location is frequently described as stunning, with amazing views and a serene setting. However, some guests noted the access road's condition and the property's seclusion was not as expected, slightly affecting the score.

Guests found the cottage comfortable, with a cosy sitting room and luxurious hot tub. The property was deemed suitable for special occasions and family gatherings, indicating a high level of comfort overall.

While the kitchen is well-equipped and the hot tub is a highlight, there are comments about the lack of certain amenities such as a dryer, DVD player, and adequate lighting near the hot tub. Additionally, one serious complaint about hot tub sanitation affects this score.

The welcome hamper was mentioned positively, indicating thoughtfulness. However, as gifts are not guaranteed and not all reviews mention them, it is not possible to accurately score this category. Guests should note that such gestures, while delightful, may not be a consistent offering.

Barnard Castle, a market town in County Durham, may be found among the beautiful landscape of nearby Teesdale. It occupies the spot of an old Roman fort that once spanned the river. Despite being in ruins, the castle's mediaeval remains are impressive due to their position above the river. The town's cobble streets, yards, and back roads were originally put up in the 12th century, earning it the nickname "Barney" among locals and tourists alike. When in the area, the Bowes Museum is a must-see and a fantastic way to spend a day taking in the sights of a historic building and learning about interesting exhibits. We had a fantastic time, the jacuzzi and facilities are great. I personally didn't sleep that well as the bed in the main bedroom was extremely soft (I do know that this is a personal preference though). Overall a great place to go to for a relaxing few days or weeks. Thanks for a great stay x

Fabulous location with stunning countryside views and a great hot tub. Negative points include, steep access to walking routes, not suitable for those with limited mobility or babies/ toddlers with pushchair or pram. We weren't happy that there wasn't a wasbasin in the downstairs loo, or a working light. Back double bedroom had a little black mould in the shower and an area on the wall near to the ceiling. Both ensuite showers were good, but the shower in the family bathroom was poor, with very limited pressure, only a dribble. Well equipped kitchen. Would have appreciated a slow cooker as It's nice to prepare a meal to come back to after a day out walking. The welcome cheese and biscuits and fizz was very much appreciated. We had a nice stay celebrating a special anniversary, however not sure we'd rebook this particular property for the points mentioned but would definitely visit the area again
