About this property

This unique treehouse offers a perfect base for travelling around the area, located only 8 miles from Bishop Auckland and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for stunning moorland, and a myriad of walking and cycling routes. Visit the castles at Auckland, Raby, Barnard Castle, and beautiful Durham (all within 17 miles) where you can also see the cathedral and stroll by the river. You are well placed to explore enchanting Hamsterley Forest, wonderful Weardale, Teesdale, and the Yorkshire Dales National Park (20 miles). Admire the art collections at Bowes Museum and wander through gardens, 17 miles from the cottage. Back at the treehouse, treat yourselves to a light lunch in the popular on-site ice cream parlour followed by exquisite cake and mouth-watering ice cream.

Access this magnificent treehouse from the bespoke metal bridge and you’ll come into a generous boot room where you can sit down to take off your shoes and hang up your outdoor clothing. Head into the spacious and light main living space which has warm and toasty underfloor heating throughout. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is full of bespoke features, not to mention amazing views from every window. Comfortable seating surrounds the impressive stone fireplace with an illuminated feature wood burner adding to the ambience. Sit and relax or watch Smart TV after days out exploring. The kitchen is well equipped with a range-style electric oven fridge/freezer and microwave and the large kitchen island provides plenty of workspace to prepare your meals. The solid oak dining table invites you to enjoy memorable meals together. There are three beautifully presented bedrooms, each with an accent chair, a TV, plenty of storage, a lovely en-suite rainfall shower and WC, and a wonderful view. Two of the bedrooms are on the main floor – a super-king-size room and a double – and the third bedroom is upstairs with a king-size bed. There is also a carpeted mezzanine lounge upstairs with two comfortable sofas where you can sit with a drink to chat or simply admire the views from windows on all three sides.

Step outside onto the south-facing balcony to enjoy the views by day and starry sky by night. Dine alfresco overlooking the huge garden, the pretty pond and views towards Witton Castle. The garden is shared by a second cottage for two. There is ample, off-road parking for three or more cars.
